And finally: Otterly Fascinated

At a recent alternative energy exposition, Dr. Otto Otterby operated a device used to demonstrate a form of perpetual energy — namely, himself.

The quantity and intensity of the Awwwww in these links is extraordinary. Mike, did you have to lie down after you assembled these? After watching them I may have to.

The otter video is fascinating. I wonder how long the otter kept doing that. S/he seemed to get more and more excited by the activity. I would love to know what it was thinking.

I notice the otter would periodically lose track of the game…”Where’d the ball go? Oh wait, I’m still holding it…” – like a person with their glasses!

That’s one possibility, which could explain what might be growing agitation. Or, s/he had trouble gripping it securely enough?

I’m glad they let us know at the end of the article that prairie dogs are not actually dogs, because up until that point I wasn’t entirely sure the writer knew that…but I am still left wondering why the people brought home a prairie dog in the first place.

Also, according to my calendar, it is Pig in a Blanket Day.

Hooray! When I saw that on the calendar, I came here immediately expecting some cute piggies like that. Thanks!

I am reduced to a big pile of goo after seeing all those surrogate mommies and daddies. The sweetness is just too much!

I love the story of the little dog and the kitten in the ravine. I’ve seen many stories about mothers of one species raising babies of another species along with their litter but the fact that a dog that isn’t pregnant or just had a litter would spontaneously produce milk to feed a baby of another species is something I’ve never seen before!

Nature never ceases to amaze me.

I’ve read about a family bringing a (human) baby home and the dog spontaneously lactating.
