Has anyone started that show– BBC’s Dickensian?! I started the first episode this past weekend; it is gorgeous to look at but the storylines are of course are often heart breaking.

Hadn’t heard of it. I might have to check that out.

No, sounds like something I’d love. don’t know if it’s shown here anywhere (Philly area)

And, yes, that pooch has the right pout. The grin on the stuffy is a giveaway, however.

I recently read a book called How to Be a Victorian by Ruth Goodman. It was interesting. I’m currently reading How to Be a Tudor by the same author (which is also interesting, but I think I liked the Victorian one better, in part because it included more pictures (some drawings, some photos) of actual Victorian-era artifacts like clothing; though I suspect that is in part because there are more surviving items from that era than from Tudor times). The author has lived/worked in working recreations of houses/farms from those times, so she has actually lived what she’s writing about (as much as one can in the 21st century, at least).

I love Ruth Goodman! She did Edwardian Farm and Victorian Farm too. 🙂
Have you read Ghost Map yet? Fantastic read. https://www.amazon.ca/Ghost-Map-Londons-Terrifying-Epidemic/dp/1594482691
I am presently on Ian Mortimer’s, Time Travellers Guide to Medieval England. When I am done with his books I will circle back around to Ruth’s How To Be a Victorian, thank you for reminding me!

I have not read Ghost Map but it is on my (loooong) list of things to read. I’ll look for it when I return How to be a Tudor to the library. I read Time Traveller’s Guide to Medieval England a long time ago. Can’t remember if I actually own it; I might have to look.

Ghost Map is one of the best histories I’ve ever read. And I was a history professor, so I’ve read a lot. I listened to the audiobook and it’s time to revisit it.

Me too Debg; I think I’ll put it on hold at the library. Actually, come to think of it, I first read it as it was a staff recommendation at my local library. I still think of scenes described– especially that corner block of tenements. I guess you could say I am, ahem, haunted by the story!

    Moooore?!! You want mooooore?!?!?!

Well, okay, you can have more. You can have as much as you want. You can have all of it, in fact. Really. Help yourself.

That was one of the most adorable things I have ever seen.

Oh good grief! Look at that face! I would be putty in his paws and give him anything he wanted and more!

Begging puppy eyes are almost irresistible. Unfortunately, so was my daughter when she was little, who could do the begging puppy eyes to perfection — large, dark brown eyes, just moist enough to suggest tears without a tear actually dripping from her eye. It worked for her for FAR too many years, although not with me; I caught on when she was still young since she was doing it easily as deliberately as that pup in the photo.

The good news is that I’m now immune to it with pups, too — most of the time. Well, occasionally. Okay, never! 😀

I would be racing around the house bringing that pup treats, toys, ANYTHING to make those eyes happy!

Oh. My. God!!! I have officially succumbed to the cute. There is nothing more to be said.
