What a coy little pussy cat – very come-hitherish. I’m off to an event so I’ll catch up with you all later in the day! Enjoy your week end, everybody!

I have an Ani story to share. It looks like Ani is making friends with one of the cats who roam the neighborhood. Although this cat has chased Ani once in the past, when the two were separated by the front porch screen, they sat very calmly together. (I apologize for the poor quality of the photo, but I had to snap this through the blinds to avoid disturbing them.)

Yay, peace in our time!!! 🙂

    • AJ April 29, 2017 / 10:06 am

      Very cute!

    • Dubravkamcvmd April 29, 2017 / 10:11 am

Adorable. There seems to be a sort of alert attention to each other , interested but wary. The screen gives them the safe space to experience each other without danger.

      Cautious besties–very sweet!

    • Gigi the cat lady April 29, 2017 / 11:47 am

Human sacrifice, bunny and cats living together… mass hysteria!

    • 6rabbits April 29, 2017 / 11:59 am

      Aww, how sweet!

    • Emsthemonster April 29, 2017 / 12:24 pm

      How cute, Ani & a tabby 🙂
The post kitty is also lovely, I totally share the “just 5 more minutes” feeling, as I have spent most of the day in bed, still half-dead from the illness.

      • debg April 29, 2017 / 3:40 pm

Hope you’re back on your feet soon!

        • Emsthemonster April 30, 2017 / 7:22 am

          Thank you, Debg!

          • Murray C April 30, 2017 / 10:30 pm

Yes, Emsthemonster – I hope you’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Get better soon.

            • Emsthemonster May 1, 2017 / 1:53 pm

              Thank you, Murray C.

This is pretty darned sweet – I think they’ll be full-on buddies very soon. My cat always got along with our rabbits – not exactly friendly, but a tolerance. The cat would sleep in the bunny cage (which was always open, it was just a place they liked to hang) and the two rabbits looked a little miffed at being displaced but they dealt with it. Now, with Fergus, he is absolutely petrified of the cat and turns into a pinball when he sees her, slamming around from pillar to post in his pen. I’m afraid he’ll hurt himself.

Too many cuties in this post – first that lovely kitty and then Ani chilling. I felt very much like kitty in the picture. Me & Dobby were all curled up in the bed together and I so wanted another 5-10 minutes but he needed his walk before I had a mess to clean up.

Nothing too exciting this weekend – just the usual, organizing, packing, and chores. I’ll see some friends for breakfast tomorrow and catch up on all the news, especially about our local hockey team. Had an awesome playoff game last night which we won. YEAH TEAM!!

Greetings Cutetropians! I am relaxing pool side at my rental house in Florida and enjoying lovely Florida temperatures and sun! Off for a big American breakfast/brunch in a few minutes and then more pool and sun time today. Did some Disney yesterday and we all need to recover from the crowds and noise with some quiet time today! Hope everyone is happy and healthy wherever you may be!

    • Starfish April 29, 2017 / 2:29 pm

As a Floridian (at heart), hope it’s treating you well!

  5. Dubravkamcvmd April 29, 2017 / 11:13 am

I’m at a First Communion ceremony for friends’ twin daughters. The girls dress like brides, just as I did years ago

  6. debg April 29, 2017 / 11:27 am

It’s snowing here in northern Colorado! Then we hit 62 degrees on Sunday. Crazy.

So I’m not going anywhere today–errands can wait until tomorrow. Must install a new faucet in my downstairs kitchen/dye studio, then I can really start setting up that room for use. I got a turkey roaster for dyeing, and a new set of Lanaset dyes. Yep, I’m “dyeing” to try them all out!

    • N. Fritz April 29, 2017 / 1:35 pm

It snowed yesterday in Austria… like 3 inches when I woke up. Drove through a wintry mix to get to Vienna where I am spending my last foreseeable three day weekend with BF. Starting next week I’ve got leaving exams and semester exams til mid June on tap. School ends July 9 or so.

    • Murray C April 29, 2017 / 8:55 pm

Oh, Debg, you are a wag!? Sounds very cool. I wish I were handy like you. Neither my husband nor I are the least bit handy when it comes to electricity or plumbing.

We had record temps in the Philly area today, around 88, which is ridiculous for April. But tomorrow it goes back to the 60’s which I much prefer. I’m hoping to get some gardening done after we attend a memorial service for a friend.

  7. Duckie ? April 29, 2017 / 11:53 am

Today I have planned to do a dairy run across the line, take hubby’s sewing machine in for assessment, coffee with my father-in-law, points redeeming shopping, case lot sale shopping and points redemption shopping at another store, and then a trip to the bottle depot and then to Fabricland. And now, thanks to this adorable creature, I will get nothing done.
And because of that sweet face, I won’t care.

  8. Gigi the cat lady April 29, 2017 / 11:54 am

Just taking a few minutes out of doing housework that I put off all week. I’m trying to fining everything as soon as possible so I can go out and enjoy the nice sunny day we have today because next week doesn’t look good temperature wise.

  9. 6rabbits April 29, 2017 / 11:56 am

That was very much me this morning, except no where near as cute as this kitteh!

  10. allein ? April 29, 2017 / 12:42 pm

It’s 12:39 and I just got up. I have a haircut appointment at 2 and the eye doctor at 5:30. I seem to have developed several floaters in my left eye over the past couple days. I know they’re generally harmless but this is a bunch in a short time and it’s freaking me out, and I’m trying not to panic. Hopefully it’s not anything to worry about. It’s really noticeable when looking at a computer screen, though, which is kind of a problem at work.

    • Faye April 29, 2017 / 4:31 pm

Allein please let me know what happens. I have a huge floater in my dominant eye that is a constant problem. I’ve had four problems with my eyes from birth. The floater is the most benign but the most annoying.

      • allein ? April 29, 2017 / 7:28 pm

He said he could see the floaters but didn’t see any problem with the retina or anything else. He said if they don’t change or start getting better then no worries; if I see any flashes of light I should go back. Oddly enough they’re not so bad right now, but my eyes are still dilated. Can’t stay on computer right now.

        • Faye April 29, 2017 / 9:39 pm

Good. They may dissipate over two weeks. Flashes are from retina trouble. I get flashes. You will see the floaters against light backgrounds: the sky when driving, looking at computer, reading against white. I also see them when I am drawing on white paper. Very annoying.

    • Laura April 29, 2017 / 5:40 pm

I’ve had a number of floaters in one eye for some years now; I forget what the doctor said causes them, but in my case they’re completely harmless, just annoying. I have learned a nice trick to try to get the biggest one out of my main field of vision — I raise my eyes and look waaay up and waaay down very quickly several times, and then after the last time I look down, the biggest one is usually far enough down I can just ignore it again. You might try this trick — if I don’t see it right in the big middle of everything, it’s much easier to ignore.

      • allein ? April 29, 2017 / 5:56 pm

The part that’s really freaking me out is that they all popped up over about a day and a half. They’re especially noticeable when driving because of the bright sky. Thursday was kinda cloudy and I didn’t go out yesterday so today is the first real experience of bright sky. I just did all the screening machines so the flashing lights and dots aren’t helping. Waiting for the doctor now.

Earlier I got my hair cut. Unfortunately it’s too hot to leave it down in all its freshly cut and blow dried shininess. Then I went to the library to return my book and got 3 more. Ghost Map, the Time Traveler’s Guide to Elizabethan England and the Time Traveler’s Guide to Medieval England. (There’s also a new one about the Restoration Era but the library doesn’t have it in yet. I’ll get it when I’m done with these, assuming I haven’t gotten my fill of British history by then.)

        • Faye April 29, 2017 / 9:44 pm

Allein did you do any heavy lifting or a a lot of stooping with your head hanging down like you would gardening. It shifts the inside of your eyes.

Laura I will try your suggestion. My large floater is almost right in the center of my field of vision. Thank goodness it is not a harbinger of macular degeneration.

          • allein ? April 29, 2017 / 11:53 pm

Can’t think of anything. I did a little running on Monday and Wednesday. I googled and found mixed opinions on whether that can affect them.

I hardly saw them at all after I left the doctor; I wonder if all the looking up/down/side/etc. made them shift. I laid down in my dark bedroom for a while after I got home because the drops were still wearing off. Spots are coming back now, though. I hope they dissipate; they’re irritating and they’re making my eyes tired because I keep trying to look at them and decide if they’re getting worse or better or what. I get anxious about health stuff. They said my blood pressure was borderline at my appointment today; probably because I’ve been so worked up the past few days.

It’s cold and rainy today. The weather report mentioned a chance for snow. I have to go to the store to get cat food and insulin, so I can’t hibernate all day like I want to.

Grace (my skinny cat who recently escaped outside and was missing for a week) suddenly looks like she swallowed a softball. I suspect there will be kittens. I wish there was a discount spay/neuter program in my area, so I could get all three of my girls spayed. Unfortunately, the best I can hope for is a $25 discount on a $200 (or more) procedure.
My grandson is in kindergarten, his class got some eggs from a local farm and they hatched them. He was reading a booklet on how eggs develop during incubation. Words like: developing, fertilization, incubation. I was amazed listening to him sound out the words. He is also learning Latin, which is standard for his school.

Is there no Fund for Animals clinic in your area? That is where I took my cat.

      • Patty April 29, 2017 / 7:51 pm

Nope, the animal shelter will give a coupon for $25 off. There is a traveling vet that visits Petco every so often, but they only offer non surgical treatments like vaccinations. I will have to search for one in a bigger city, and see if the savings offsets the cost of gas to drive there.

My cat cost $50 at the Fund for Animals SNAP clinic. Check it out. snapus.org

A few weeks ago I mentioned I bought a radio for close to $200. What I forgot to say is it is a wi-fi radio. I have been listening to a 24 hour Beatles station from Poland (who would have guessed they would be so popular in a non-English speaking country) called RMF Beatlemania. The commercial breaks are always amusing since they are in Polish, everything else in English. If anyone is interested the URL is rmfbeatlemania.radio.net.

Faye asked me to post a pair of photos of Millie. She writes: “Millie enjoyed her first walk in our backyard. She is rocking her pink harness and leash! Millie says, ‘I can smell sunshine.'”

    • debg April 29, 2017 / 3:42 pm

Millie! Hurray! She looks so stylish.

    • Faye April 29, 2017 / 4:34 pm

Yay Mike. Thank you! Thank you Debg. Millie and I are learning together.

    • Starfish April 29, 2017 / 6:35 pm

Millie and Ani in the same comment thread? Nice!

    • Murray C April 29, 2017 / 8:57 pm

Oh, Faye, she is so darling – and isn’t she lo-o-ong!? I want to snorgle that shiny coat and sweet face.

      • Faye April 29, 2017 / 9:53 pm

Hi Murray, yup, Millie is long but she has long legs too. So not much Dachshund in her. I will get a genetic test next year.

She’s so soft. Her black coat shines. I bury my face in her. She loves to spoon and lies against me for long time periods of time. She is very smart when she wants to learn. She learned fetch and puppy stairs immediately. She almost pad trained herself to be clean. Come, sit, stay? Nope. She will only come for treats. However, her first two times on the leash went well.

I will snorgle her just for you.

Mike, I’m glad Ani is making friends with the neighbor kitty — unexpected animal friends are always fun! And the sleepy kitty in this post definitely described me, too. I slept late and still almost went back to sleep for a couple more hours!

We’re having a quiet weekend — it’s too hot to do much of anything, actually. The dogs want to go for a walk, but they really won’t enjoy it until later, when at least there’s no direct sun on them.

We did one nice thing this week — we bought a really nice gently used sofa and loveseat set from our new neighbors across the street. They had two living rooms in their previous house, so had a good set to get rid of, and we needed some better furniture in the living room, so this was a good deal for everybody. Sebastian, the cocker spaniel, thinks they’re just new beds for him, of course, so I had to immediately put something on them to protect the off-white upholstery from his black fur. He’s not spoiled or anything. 😀

  16. Jan April 30, 2017 / 10:13 am

Lazy, lazy weekend. Mostly rainy, so I’ve been napping and reading trying to recover enough energy to head back to work tomorrow. sigh

Here’s Lily playing in the garden. I don’t know if other phones do this, but iPhones do: when it takes an HDR (high dynamic range) photo, it actually is taking a short 2 second video clip which you can view on the phone. For this image, the clip starts with her sitting below the foliage then jumping up to swat at me with a paw. So cute!

    • dubravkamcvmd April 30, 2017 / 11:35 am

What a gorgeous picture of a gorgeous kitteh!

      • Jan April 30, 2017 / 12:59 pm

        Thanks 🙂

    • Murray C April 30, 2017 / 8:56 pm

      Funny little cat! Very dear.

  17. Faye April 30, 2017 / 11:03 am

So pretty! Lily is a lovely juvenile kitty.

    • Jan April 30, 2017 / 12:57 pm

She’ll be one year old in mid-May, so not a juvenile much longer! I’m sure she’ll still behave like one though… 🙂
