Fill ‘er Up!

Shout-out to S. H. for dropping a tip in the jar recently. Thank you! Now, let’s treat ourselves to a delicate hummingbird enjoying a refreshing drink in slow motion. Look sharp to see the teeny tiny tongue action!

It looks a little puzzled about why the flower has all that nectar.

I have a neighbor who puts out all sorts of bird feeders, and we’re expecting the hummers to return in a couple of weeks or so. This is a much better view of one than I usually get.

Even in slo-mo you can barely see the wings flapping! How cool is that?

In slow motion they are about as fast as an ordinary bird. That really slows you how fast they move.

It’s like a sewing-machine needle – zip zip zip! Wonderful photography.

I love hummingbirds! I have several feeders and they will come eat out of my hand. I have video and some photos if I’m allowed to post them here.

Seconded – I’d love to see them! To send to Mike, you can use the “Send me stuff” link at the top of the site.

How in the world did you get them to eat from your hand?!

Just sat really still near the other feeders with a little “button” feeder in my hand. I’ll round up the video and pics and send them to Mike

6Puppers, I’m a tad disappointed. I was hoping you were going to say that you dress up as a giant hummingbird and they just think of you as “mom”.

            Ha!

I live in Yorkshire, which sadly is notorious for its total lack of hummingbirds.
