Creature Feature

“What are you doing? Don’t just lie there in bed! The monster is in the room with you, get up and run! He’s gonna — wait, are you the ‘final girl’? Oh well then, you’ve got nothing to worry about. You’ll be killing him later in the picture.”

Tell me how it ends, Amy F. and Faye — I’m too scared to watch.

That is one helpful goggie! Way more useful than, say, running up to the screen and batting at birds. Not that my cats would ever do that.

I might watch a horror movie if I had a cute pup to protect me…

And, to sleep next to me later that night to keep the monsters away.

Hmmmm, I might just go as ‘Final Girl’ at next Halloween party… Thanks Mike! And does anyone know what movie this is from?

      Is it “Crimson Peak”?

      • -J June 7, 2017 / 4:32 pm

it is Crimson Peak, & spoiler, not all ghosts are murderous

      • fkaWaldenPond June 7, 2017 / 4:40 pm

Thanks J & Shortcake, I will borrow it from the library! πŸ™‚

      • Faye June 7, 2017 / 4:25 pm

Yup! Get out while you still can! I hear lots of bulldogs barking.

Anyone else have a local Creature Feature double feature of B movies on Friday night when they were growing up? The Thing that Wouldn’t Die, The Crawling Hand, Return of the Mole People? Anyone? Anyone?

I wouldn’t know because I wasn’t allowed to watch those things when I was a kid.

When I was seven we went to my uncle’s for a few days over Christmas. I was the youngest kid, my brother being 2.5 years older and my cousins all four or more years older than me. While we were there I came down with an ear infection and my aunt took me and my mom to the hospital, where they gave me a lollipop and let me take one for each of the kids at the house. Later that night, all the other kids watched Poltergeist and I was not allowed to watch, because my parents aren’t stupid and didn’t want me sleeping with them. So everybody but me got to watch a movie, while I was in pain, had to take medicine, and, worst of all, had to share my lollipops with all of them!

      I still haven’t seen Poltergeist.

      • Birdcage June 7, 2017 / 3:42 pm

Poltergeist is the reason that my fully adult self can not possibly sleep in the same room as a closet that has a door that is even one quarter inch ajar.

        • allein ? June 7, 2017 / 3:45 pm

I don’t have that excuse but I still don’t like having doors open when I sleep. I live alone but I still close the bedroom door at night.

        • Amyliz June 7, 2017 / 3:53 pm

Me, either, because when I was 4 or 5, my sister stuck her head in my bedroom and said “Better close that closet door or green, bony hands will reach out and get you!” To this day, she maintains that she did not do this! Maybe it wouldn’t have scared me so much if I had had a brave dog like this to protect me from the closet fiend!

The Changeling and chairs facing my bed is my chicken noise combo but Poltergeist is a close second!

For some reason my parents let me watch scary movies when i was wee, Amityville Horror, all of The Omen films, i didn’t stop shaking that night, and unfortunately, the Poltergeist films, my proper name is Carol-Ann, i stopped going by my full name after that film due to my siblings scaring me every chance the got! Carol-Ann….step into the light!! πŸ™

My parents let me stay up late on Fridays to watch CinΓ©-peur (Fear theatre) but it wasn’t very scary movies, they used to show a lot of Santos movies dubbed in French.
If you don’t know El Santo he’s a Mexican wrestler that fights all kinds of monsters.

      • fkaWaldenPond June 7, 2017 / 8:15 pm

πŸ˜€ That’s awesome! How long did Cine-peur air in Quebec? What channel was it on, do you recall?

        • Gigi the cat lady June 7, 2017 / 10:20 pm

We has only 2 French channel at that time, we had no cable and it was before we had the UHF antenna so it was either on TVA channel 10 or on CBC channel 2.

I don’t remember how long it lasted but it must have been a few years.

I remember watching Creature Features but I recall those movies on Sunday afternoons where I’d watch them while helping Dad make Sunday dinner.

Off topic, but I’m just gonna put this here. I don’t know if anyone else watches @midnight on Comedy Central, but I’m watching yesterday’s episode on demand and it’s @pupnight!! They have adoptable puppies on stage with them and the comics/’contestants’ are from the cast of Downward Dog, and all the categories are dog-related…and when they buzz in to answer, it barks. πŸ™‚

    OMG I’M DYING! So cute!!!

It’s season 4 episode 114, aired on 6/6/17 (warning: contains some off-color humor) if anyone wants to watch.

    • Amyliz June 7, 2017 / 8:36 pm

Thanks for the tip, Allein! I will have smelling salts handy to deal with the off-color parts!

Colbert has adoptable puppies from time to time and they make up silly qualities with which to endow them.
