Leap of Faith

Oh, great — it’s another one of those “cat fail” videos, in which the cat clearly does a lot of complicated calculations, with lots of butt-wiggling and careful foot placement, and then falls flat on her face in the end. I am getting so sick and tired of all these videos going for cheap, easy laughs instead of a positive uplifting…

Oh.

Rosie comes to us via reader Cheryl, who says: “I thought you might like this video of our kitten (almost a cat now: her birthday is on Friday!). She’s a real cat and does real cat things, like big jumps.”

All the butt-wiggling and careful foot placement was all for show .. she was waiting for clearance from the tower to take off.

    Nice job, Rosie!

Meanwhile, Stripes just bonked his head into the side of the bathroom vanity. He wasn’t even jumping for anything.

Now he’s running around like a crazy person.

3 seconds after I hit post:

        And now he’s done

Heard a crash in the kitchen…went to investigate:

Okay, now I feel bad. Apparently he was trying to tell me the bowl was empty. πŸ™

Hi Allein. Rosie’s mom here. If it makes you feel any better, our other cat Gilbert once fell in the toilet (and down the stairs. and off the mantel…)

      • allein ? June 22, 2017 / 9:15 pm

Haha! I don’t think either of them has ever fallen in the toilet, at least.

        Rosie’s a cutie!

        • Cheryl June 22, 2017 / 9:22 pm

Thank you. We walked into an adopt-a-thon and knew we would have to take her because this is Gilbert:

          It’s Curtains for Gilbert

He’s about 14 pounds though (and I think she’s about 8? much smaller anyway).

Also the toilet thing was hilarious. I saw it coming. I warned him that the lid wasn’t down. He didn’t listen.

          • allein ? June 22, 2017 / 9:31 pm

            lol, they never do.

I remember Gilbert and his hellscape!

He tends to make an impression.

My cat “hides” under the kitchen rug waiting for me to walk by to attack.
If I had a nickel for every time I have to straighten out the lumps in that rug, my pants would fall down. She thinks she’s so clever.

Good job, Rosie – all that prep paid off!

  6. Murray C June 22, 2017 / 11:57 am

That was quite impressive. At first I thought she just changed her mind but then she gets back to it and SCORE!

  7. debg June 22, 2017 / 12:11 pm

You’re a real cat now, Rosie.

I never get tired of cheap laughs, Mike.

If I want to see my cats run and jump all I have to do is take out the vacuum cleaner LOL!

Not having a cat currently, I can only compare our cocker spaniel’s talented exploits. Like the other day when he managed to get completely tangled up in a lamp cord by crawling back in the corner under a small table, and proceeded to pull the lamp off. Which had a glass base, which, of course, hitting our tile floor, proceeded to smash to smithereens. As did the light bulb, of course. By the time he was done with it, the only salvageable part of the lamp was the shade. He’s a big helper, that boy! And since I usually am barefoot around the house, I keep finding the little pieces of glass we’d missed with the soles of my feet. No cuts thus far, and I did have a tetanus shot last fall. But it’s still aggravating!

He also likes to get himself tangled in the computer cables under my husband’s desk. Which is just about as popular as you might expect….

I hope your silly dog didn’t get himself hurt in the bargain – all that broken glass!

    • Smartypants June 22, 2017 / 8:10 pm

Oh, yikes! FYI, I used damp paper towels for broken glass the other day and it worked really well (glass from a framed picture that just scattered into teeny needles everywhere). Maybe search w/a flashlight too?
