Carpet Pet

Scientists at DuPant Laboratories have successfully bred a dog with synthetic shag fur. “We’ve taken the same durable polyglass fibers in our stain-resistant Pylon® carpeting and used them to breed a pet that’s easy to clean, never sheds, and comes in a variety of coordinated colors,” said a company spokesperson.

(If I was any more coordinated I’d be invisible.)

Friends of ours took their dog Hroshka to the car dealer so they could get Hroshka-colored upholstery. I bet these folks did the same thing with the carpet. (What we need is cat-colored clothing and cat-vomit-colored carpeting.)

    • Duckie ? June 23, 2017 / 4:55 pm

Rhea, I wouldn’t want cat vomit coloured carpet. The stuff is bad enough when you CAN see it, but not being able to? Shudder.

Ooooh, yeah – that feeling of getting up in the middle of the night in response to nature’s call and stepping in cat puke. LOVEly. Waking up to the sounds of imminent puking is yet another joy – I practically threw my cat off the bed mid-vomit once – I think she got the message.

        • Faye June 23, 2017 / 7:44 pm

          Mid-vomit. Been there, heard that.

It’s amazing just how cold cat vomit can get in the middle of the night! Maybe some physicist could harness that to fix global warming.

Been down on my knees today spot-cleaning the carpet. When the cat throws up the anti-vomiting pill you’ve gotta wonder.

Are Carpet Pets available in Red Tartan, Huge Unidentifiable Flowers and Multi-coloured Swirl patterns?

Yes, I grew up in the 70s.

We moved into the house I where I grew up in 1978. It had red and black houndstooth carpet. Wall to wall. In the kitchen.

Very stylish and color-coordinated. But someone should tell this manufacturer that Shag carpeting is out of fashion.

The popular trend for fall is EZ-Kare Kolor Koordinated Kats® now available in Tortoiseshell and Tabby:

Cat 1: Don’t tread on me! I’m floored.
Cat 2: Or sit! Definitely do not sit on me. I hate when sit happens.

    A little off topic… but apropos DuPant…
Did you know that if your pet gets into any of DuPont products and you have to call the animal poison control hotline (which costs $60 just for consultation), DuPont will pick up your bill? Totally True. I was spray foaming the basement and a little bit dripped onto my Jacques. Who promptly tried to lick it off before it was done foaming. We all panicked because some stuck to his tongue and he couldn’t get it off, nor could I catch him to help, and I was terrified that he might have swallowed some! What does expanding foam do to a cat gut? Long story short – fee waived, no emergency room, but I was told to get some wet food and put some laxative in it and make sure he pooped. I literally ran down to the local pharmacy and demand in total panic voice “Where is the Metamucil!” They must have thought I was crazy. Who needs Metamucil that badly?
Bottom line – Thank you DuPont for not forgetting our little critters. I am grateful.

That tortoiseshell tile is AMAZING! that’s not an easy pattern to copy — I’m totally impressed!

DebG, have you seen the yarn that comes in assorted kitty coat patterns? I can’t remember who makes it, unfortunately. I got a skein of the tortie to knit some socks for my daughter so her cat’s fur wouldn’t be so visible on her feet, at least. It wasn’t a huge success; the color shades were right, but the pattern was far too uncomplicated. Tortie coats are so complex and so mixed!

It’s Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts. We used it for the Lovecats Cowl Kit inspired by my kitty. The owner, Caroline, is someone I consider a sister under the skin. She makes Woof yarns too.

Try some of the company’s own patterns for socks–they plan stuff out so the colors pool properly. I also just made a video about colorpooling for the Lovecats Cowl–will post if I can remember where it lives!

With 3 black cats can you guess my go-to wardrobe?

    • Alice Shortcake June 24, 2017 / 4:25 am

      Cat is the new black.

What a coincidence! That was the exact look I was planning for in my living room!
