Abu Dhabi’s Nice This Time of Year

“I must say, you’re being an awfully good sport about this whole thing. When you first saw that I had chewed your priceless collection of limited first edition mint 1973 UltraSuperZoids action figures, I thought you were going to blow a gasket, but instead you give me this comfortable box and lots of these fun toys to play with! I really couldn’t ask for a kinder, more understanding human to… what are you doing with that tape?”

“It’s all shiny and crinkly! Do I get to play with that too?”

Is the tail attached? Or is it one of those some assembly required things? Does it come with an allen wrench?

Also, can I borrow some tape? I have a couple boxes and I can’t find my tape.

      Allen wrench?
      Ani-pal-lein wrench?
I’m a weirdo who likes to put together all those assembly required things.
I do think this kitty would go together well with an Ani-pal-lein wrench. ๐Ÿ˜‰

True story: My name was misspelled on my birth certificate. For about a year and three months my name was officially Allen.

For a long time, I thought your username was a play on “all in,” like in gambling! ๐Ÿ˜€

          Ummmm….

‘nother true story: When my History of the English Language and Medieval Lit classes (unsurprisingly, mostly comprised of the same people) went to the PA Renaissance Faire, my friend Sara and I did the costumed picture thing. We had to be ladies because neither one of us had the, um, build to fill out the wench’s costume.

              Birds of a feather fl..
Wait, would that be birds without the extra feathers flock,
This post is about a cat!
The cat that ate the extra feathers flock together.
              I’m so confused.

When I first started to read Garfield comics I thought Abu Dhabi was a made up place to represent somewhere far away like when we say St-Ti Meuh Meuh des Creux Creux here in Quรฉbec to show somewhere is far away and very rural.

My daughter was the same way with Pismo Beach, which of course she’d seen on Bugs Bunny a zillion times. As we were driving north from L.A. and she saw the signs pointing to Pismo Beach, she nearly blew out my eardrums with her shriek of shock and amazement.

But if kitty in the box gets sent *anywhere,* it needs to go to a wonderful kitty home, not St-Ti Meuh Meuh des Creux Creux or Pismo Beach or Lake Wobegon!

Bugs Bunny was once a salesman from Walla Walla Washington, and I always thought that place was made up too.

I know someone whose dog used to eat these styrofoam chips any chance it got. Don’t know why. The owner gave the silly creature plenty of good quality food, but it wanted styrofoam chips. When he moved in, he forgot to Warn me about the dog’s aberrant appetite, and I could not figure out why the chips from the glassware were disappearing as I helped to unpack.
I heard about it the next day, though, when my friend called to ask if I had noticed any styrofoam chips disappearing when I unpacked. When I said yes, he informed me that my missing chips were in messy piles all over his backyard!
The vet cleared the dog, and no problems resulted.
A few years later, when he and his fiancรฉe bought a place together, she thought her cat had become sick from the move, because the litter box wasn’t being used. My friend thought his dog was sick from the move, because she had a most unsocial oral odour. Both animals went to the vet.
When they came back from the vet, she installed a door with a cat flap in the laundry room, where the litter box was, and kept the door closed, and he begged the dog to go back to eating styrofoam chips and leave the cat poop alone!

      D’awww!

Can’t believe Mike left that one off the calendar!

    • Clairdelune July 7, 2017 / 3:11 pm

      !!!!! *melting-into-puddle-time*

I’m mostly a cat lady, but THAT FACE…. and the oversized baby paw…

      • Kar July 7, 2017 / 4:18 pm

        Dear heavens that paw.

I hope their owners have stock in Purina, they’re going to be buying a lot of it.

    • Rachel July 7, 2017 / 5:26 pm

Send that puppy to me! It’ll really annoy the cat, but how could I possibly resist that gorgeous puppy?

I used to let my kitty play in a box of Styrofoam peanuts like this guy.

She loved it, but when I saw/heard her EATING said Styrofoam, those promptly went to recycling.

    • Smartypants July 7, 2017 / 9:18 pm

I’ve seen some of those packing peanuts made of cornstarch now (for biodegradability) but yeah…I wouldn’t take a chance!

  9. Claire July 8, 2017 / 1:27 am

Hehe, we do this with our cats too. As you see here, Chloe did not approve of our antics.

  10. EdmundH July 9, 2017 / 10:59 am

    Yup, that’s Nermal.
