I’m putting up tomorrow morning’s links post up now because the deer rescue story is amazingly popular right now. Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Deer rescue made me happy because there was a baby deer on the side of the road on my way to work today. (I actually thought it might be a dog this morning, but I could see it better on my way home and it was a tiny deer. 🙁 ) Further on there was an adult deer, then later two raccoons. So seeing a baby rescued makes me feel better. Hope he’s doing well and hope doggie got some extra cookies.

I could use some doggy cheeks to squish right now. :-/

Oh damn! I was too hasty getting all mushy over squishy cheeks and missed the squeaking PLOPS!!!!

The baby ducks remind me of water striders. They don’t float, they just exist on the surface of the water.

A skunk wandered thru our backyard last night. I can still taste it. ???

I actually don’t mind the smell of skunks but I’ll get nauseous at the tiniest odour of garbage.

The majority of skunk smell I smell these days is coming from people smoking pot. Holy smokes, the ne’er do well son down the hall in 1701 often partakes first thing in the morning. Which I guess helps with anxiety but likely not helpful with the ‘up and at em!’ spirit.

        More like “up and………………eating something”.

    That’ll do, dog. That’ll do.

Gotta try squeezing my doggie’s cheeks later.

I think that last duckling did some sort of back-flip off the bridge!

Watched the vid again and yes it did! So cute how they just bobbed right-side up! Anybody remember Weebles? “Weebles wobble but they won’t fall down”? The ducklings are the water version!?

The humorous though potentially tragic thing about the first video is that the dog owner was not at all sure of his dog’s intentions. “Good dog, you’re rescuing the deer! You ARE rescuing the deer, right? No, bring the deer to SHORE. Okay, she’s ashore, leave her alone! Don’t keep chasing the deer! Okay, you’re cuddling her, you’re not going for the jugular. This will be a cute video after all. Good dog.” And then (per the text accompanying the video) the deer tried to run into the water again. Are we sure it was drowning? Might it not have lived on the other shore and it was just trying to go home, get back to its mother, etc.? I mean, retrievers will retrieve anything, but that doesn’t guarantee that everything needs retrieving.

These questions occured to me also, after watching the video.
Dog seemed a tad confused about what he was doing. I’m surprised the fawn didn’t have a heart attack, glad it’s okay.

I love the story of Leo the Pit Bull and the UPS driver.

Also I had no idea that dog’s cheeks were so squishy, I tried it with my cats, the doctor said I should regain the full use of my hands by the end of the month ?

Storm’s owner says he’s never retrieved anything in his life…he certainly picked the right time to start!
