Lighter than Hare

To his kin and friends’ dismay
Steve began to float one day
One moment he was on the ground
Then up he flew without a sound
What set this errant hare to soaring?
Truth is, he found gravity quite boring
While others hopped the ground, contented
The pull of Earth he’d long resented
“That’s not for me,” he’d often sigh
“Walking’s a drag. I’m meant to fly”
And so he’s gone, we know not where
Of Steve we’ve not seen hide nor hare

I’m not a plain hare! I’m a hare plane!

Nice find, 6rabbits.

I love NTMTOM’s tales, (especially the last line), and to make so many rhyme, beyond my abilities. Amazing pic of a hopping bun. Would like to be there at that scene with the four bunnehs and the background is nice too. I’m thinking they’re pet buns because the wild buns I see, their legs are longer, thinner and have less fur, but I could be wrong.

Encore, Encore! Mike, you must’ve eaten something very special today, this is such a gem.

Yes, they do look like pet buns, Luv Bunny, don’t they – wild buns look rangy while these look plump, well fed. Adorable. And I doubt anyone could get this close to wild buns – they would either run away or freeze, not jump about so freely.

Do I detect the influence of Monty Python’s “Horace Poem”?

Much to mum and dad’s dismay
    Horace ate himself one day
He didn’t stop to say his grace
He just sat down and ate his face
“We can’t have this!” his dad declared
“If that lad’s ate, he should be shared”
But even as he spoke they saw
    Horace eating more and more:
First his legs and then his thighs,
His arms, his nose, his hair, his eyes
    “Stop him someone!” Mother cried
“Those eyeballs would be better fried!”
But all too late for they were gone,
And he had started on his dong
“Oh foolish child!” the father mourned
“You could have deep-fried those with prawns,
Some parsley and some tartar sauce…”
    But H was on his second course;
His liver and his lights and lung,
His ears, his neck, his chin, his tongue
“To think I raised him from the cot
And now he’s gone to scoff the lot!”
His mother cried “What shall we do?
    What’s left won’t even make a stew…”
And as she wept her son was seen
To eat his head, his heart, his spleen
And there he lay, a boy no more
Just a stomach on the floor
None the less, since it was his
They ate it — that’s what haggis is

FABulous – I hadn’t seen that one before. So brilliant.

Reminds me of the “ME Stew” by Shel Silverstein “I’ll sit in the pot just a bubblin’ and a stewin’ and I’ll taste myself often to see how I’m doin'”

    • Not That Mike The Other Mike August 1, 2017 / 12:22 pm

I remember that from “Monty Python’s Big Red Book.” Yeah, I do think I had that rattling around my head when I wrote this. 😀
