Hooray for Frida and the man who rescued the swamp kitty!

How did that doggie not break his neck from smashing into the couch?? That had to hurt.

Dogs have extremely sturdy necks. It’s really more like a human’s waist.

I love the “I meant to do that” look.

Aw, I hope swamp kitty finds his family.

    I love Steve Irwin’s kids.

By the way, Happy Elephant Appreciation Day!

    Here’s some Elephizgerald to celebrate.

Allein, THANKS!! Ella Fitzgerald is my absolute favorite female singer of all time – several decades ago I traveled to Italy, and she was performing in a theater in Rome – a friend took me to see her and I will never forget it, it was a magical evening.
BTW, you just caused me to fall behind in my daily computer work because I could not bring myself to turn off the music… NOW I MUST go to Amazon and find this CD – although I already have several of her recordings in my 400 + collection of CDs… 🙂

Yes Mike, it was a great night! Of course, being in Rome and with a handsome Italian man did add to the magic… siiigggh.

I always do click on the link!! And I visit Amazon quite often, since I have neither the time nor the energy to go out shopping. 😀

      Um…sorry? 😉

      • Clairdelune September 22, 2017 / 11:28 am

        It’s OK, you’re forgiven!! 😀
Actually, feel free to do it again… I also like Sarah Vaughan…

          I’ll keep that in mind.

          ‘Sarah Fawn,’ perhaps?

The dog rescuing people story was so…!
We borrowed a movie from the library called ‘Max’, about a Marine’s dog. The Marine was killed in action, and his younger brother was claimed by the dog. Loved it!

There’s a special place in heaven for folks like Randall!

I too was surprised that Couch Torpedo didn’t knock himself silly–he might be like my kitty Onyx who has whacked himself so many times that his neurons have given up and just stagger around any old way.

      Sounds like a few people I know…

These wonderful rescue stories restore some of my faith in humanity. I already had a lot of faith in animals! That earthquake rescue doggie blew me away. And thank goodness for swamp people.

    • Smartypants September 22, 2017 / 5:46 pm

Yes – can you believe Randall was willing to wade through that water with nothing but an alligator-pokin’ stick? And thanks also to his wife, and the bird-watcher who gave such good coordinates.

That dog was named Person of the Week on ABC news. Deservedly so.

Randall the Swamp Kitty Rescuer was a lot braver than I am. I can think of about a dozen ways he could have been badly damaged — not just critters like snakes, alligators, snapping turtles, but sharp stumps or rocks hidden in the murky water, or toxins in the water, or do they have leeches in Louisiana? I’d have gone and gotten a boat — but it’s not clear a boat could make it through the brush to where the kitty was.

Also, he had a great camera setup! It’s obvious this was not his first rodeo. His wife taking the wide shot, and a GoPro or equal on his head (I assume) AND another inside the carrier! He not only waded through a dangerous swamp, he took professional-quality multi-camera video while he was doing it, giving himself plenty of choices of footage for later editing.

As for the sofa pooch, I can’t be sure, but I think he hit the leading edge of the seat cushion itself (not the face of the solid front below it, whatever that’s called — fascia, frame, I’m sure the sofa industry has a jargon name for it) AND that the cushion was pillowy, soft, full of air. I think he basically hit an air bag like the ones stuntmen jump off buildings into. At least I’m going to comfort myself by assuming that.

I’m guessing he’s done that more than once and was seemingly no worse for wear.
