Panda Pratfalls on Parade

Enjoy this classical compilation of the Toronto Zoo pandas as they plomp, plonk and plunge and then ask yourself: How did these creatures manage to survive this long?

I laughed so hard I fell off my chair, Gigi the cat lady.

    Are pandas liquid, like cats?

    • Wuyizidi October 9, 2017 / 9:59 pm

Yes, except they don’t have cat’s strength, speed, agility, balance, reflex, or coordination 🙂

At 1:06 when mom (Er Shun) dragging one of her cubs it is the universal look on a mother’s face saying “you are coming with me right this instant, young man.”

After watching them roll into each other and on top of one another, I can understand why Pandas are solitary creatures.

Good thing that they’re made out of marshmallow fluff and licorice gummies.

    • Dana October 9, 2017 / 2:32 pm

They sure need all of that padding.

No kidding! I feel like this video needs a disclaimer: “No cubs were harmed in the making of this video.” (I mean, I know they weren’t, I’m not being a nuff, but *ouch*! ) I still laughed. So many D’oh! moments in one video.

HELP !!! .. We have fallen, and we can’t get up without you humies laughing at us because we are too darn cute.

Stop it and help us up please.

The musical timing was so perfect, too! I think my favorites were when Mom just shoved one of the babies off a platform, but honestly, I was just nodding along with the music and the pratfalls (while laughing so hard I could hardly see through the tears of laughter running down my face!) as they hit every moment of musical emphasis! Whoever put this video together with this music was a GENIUS!

And Mike, you asked the best question ever, too!

When I read your comment I thought “music?”. I watched this earlier while at work so I had the sound off. OMG, even more hilarious! They aren’t the most coordinated lumps for sure.

From now on I will always think of Rossini’s “Barber of Seville” overture as “the plummeting pandas music”.

I love the bit at 1.35:

Mother: “Which way up are you supposed to hold these things again?”

        *cub hits the ground*

        Mother: “Oh, the OTHER way…”

I love the baby at 0:47 that just falls for no reason.

At first, I was with Mike, thinking “Is this why the species is endangered? Because they are simply quite clumsy?”

But then I thought, what if my daily activities were videotaped 24/7 and then you compiled a video only of me tripping, falling or doing other “stupid” things? Then, yes, you would think “…how is it possible that she lived to see 48 yrs?”

BTW Mike, in this crazy, crazy world that seems to get even crazier each day, I am thankful to have this place to come to laugh, smile and feel happy.

    It’s a pandamic of pandamonium!

My fave moments are when the cubs are standing and then just

    siddown!

  9. Laurie October 9, 2017 / 5:24 pm

    They are made of Flubber!

  10. Brouhaha October 9, 2017 / 5:28 pm

Um, have they been eating fermented bamboo? I mean, they’re not even TRYING to not fall.

    • Ricky's Mom October 9, 2017 / 5:56 pm

      ?????

  11. Murray C October 9, 2017 / 5:40 pm

I contend that if they could survive all those tumblings that they must be the fittest!

  12. dubravkamcvmd October 9, 2017 / 5:41 pm

I think their floof is SO flooffy that they don’t feel a thing when they fall.

  13. BB/VA October 9, 2017 / 7:50 pm

Pandas are made of rubber. Or maybe whatever Super Balls (TM) are made of.

  14. fkaWaldenPond October 9, 2017 / 7:54 pm

They are like those soccer/football players who get all dramatic and fake a fall but in this case the opposing team is gravity. Of course, both crack me up to no end. 😀

    • Catwhisperer October 10, 2017 / 10:58 am

While my husband and I were in Greece during the 2006 World Cup, we chatted with a Manchester United fan who referred to those dramatics as “just cheese.” We still laugh about that. 🙂

    • Kar October 10, 2017 / 3:18 pm

We’ve always called those Great Acting in Non-Roles

  15. debg October 9, 2017 / 8:51 pm

I feel bad for laughing, but seriously couldn’t help myself. So adorbs! Their tops are made out of rubber; their bottoms are made out of springs.

    • Zapes October 10, 2017 / 1:31 pm

That’s just what came to my mind as I watched it. They’re Tiggers of a different stripe.

  16. Blue Footed Booby October 9, 2017 / 11:01 pm

As my mother often told me when I was a booblet, “you’d have been dead a long time ago if you weren’t so darn cute.”

Edit: the ramp of doom claimed many victims

    • Catwhisperer October 10, 2017 / 11:00 am

Yes! That was my favorite part, from 2:00-2:07.

  17. Michael October 10, 2017 / 3:35 am

I’m surprised the zoo lets them have anything that tall (like the log structure) or even semi-pointy (like some of those branch structures) to play with. I know, the branches are blunt and the ground is kind of soft (though it’s not padded or anything) and pandas, as pointed out, are both tubby and floofy. But I’m still amazed they don’t hurt themselves with that level of adorable clumsiness.

  18. Syd October 10, 2017 / 7:31 am

Ok the BEST panda video ever! I love how silly they are. But the commentary (of which I am normally a HUGE fan) just reminded me how they are close to extinction like so many other species cus humans have messed up this planet, so I didn’t think that was so funny. Sorry ntmtom

  19. Jeannine Pope-Carter October 10, 2017 / 10:17 am

I love how the zoo offered an appreciation of their Pandas coordinated to music! Clearly,
they see what a guy I know, who was a former Panda keeper at the ATL Zoo, told me. He said he had the best job and loved the Pandas. However, he said that Pandas are amazingly clumsy (and not the brightest) animals.
