And finally: Wombath

“I could get used to this,” thought the furry little tank.

“UNHAND ME WOMA… oh actually this is nice”

BINTURONGS!!!! At long last!! They are so strange and adorable. And their musk smells like corn!

OK, binturongs? Bear cats? Now we’ve entered the realm of animals totally made up to squeeze the heart. Plus they don’t mate unless they “harmonize well.” They’re emotionally sensitive too? Come on!

The supercilious look on the face of the cheetah Mom! “Yes, I’m a cheetah…and these are MY cubs.”

      They also smell like popcorn.

Unreal. I’m surprised they don’t have them in Australia.

That’s no ordinary pup … He was a Hired Veil Holder to prevent the veil from blowing in the wind ..

When parents got married in June 1956 the weather was more typical of November, with torrential rain and gale force winds. On one of the photos my grandfather has one foot on the train of my mum’s dress to prevent it blowing over her head.

My friend got married in August 2000, and it turned out to be about 55 degrees and raining. After the ceremony, they ran out under an umbrella to the open limo door, just for the photo, then went back inside to do the rest of the pictures. We were trying to blow bubbles as they came out, but they were just blowing back in our faces in the wind. (Luckily it stopped raining later, and they got some gorgeous sunset photos at the small lake behind the reception venue.)

Such sweet babies! And the Indiana Jones cats have wonderful people. Love the wedding crasher goggie. But of course, the Wombath is icing on the cake (or suds on the wombat or something). Wombat Wednesdays don’t get much better than this!

Wombat Wednesday sure beats WTF Wednesday at the Ask a Manager blog.

When will the cheetah cubs get their own puppies? And will we get pictures?

I turn into a squishy mess whenever I see wombats – I sure wish it was me sitting on that tub with a squirmy lump off muscle-y wombat on my lap. sigh.

And the cat bridge is gorgeous – a little art installation with a practical bent.

And, Mike, I felt sure if you used the shine post you’d say “Why the long face?”.

Today is clearly Research Day as well on Cutetropolis! I’d never heard the term “viverrid” before, which is what binturongs are, but upon checking with My Friend Google, turns out they’re in the civet family. Which means they’re related to civet cats. I sure hope they’re a little less, er, fragrant than civet cats are, though ….

An excellent collection of links, Mike! Every time I see another rhino is born in captivity, it makes me ridiculously happy. I’ve fallen in love with rhinos as well as hippos! I love creative kitty furniture, too — we have a high ceiling in our living room with a nice cat-high self at one end at least ten feet off the floor, and next time I have a cat, I am going to build steps up to it. I love it when people build kitty steps and tunnels and passageways all over their house just under the roof! And capping the links off with a sudsy wombat — what could be better?

Given the number of German zoo births, you gotta wonder what they’re adding to the water.
