Wombats. Talk. ?
That’s amazing! The sounds it makes and the way it moves! It lifts a paw and holds it near its chest before putting it down. If there’s someone who knows about wombat locomotion out there, I’d love to know what those paw movements were about. Maybe it’s just an expressive way of indicating caution?
I can’t answer your question, DUBRAVKAMCVMD, but I do know that when the wombat put its paw to its chest, I was doing the same thing with my hand as the overwhelming adorableness nearly slayed me! How INSANELY cute is this little wombat? And who knew it made such fascinating chittering sounds?
I know! Maybe it’s just this wombat has star quality. I want to know what it meant by it’s sounds and movements.
What!? did I just see!? Oh my goodness – the feet! the careful choreography, lift, bring claws together, gently set paw down, and then the way they squish a little as the weight is put on them. Gah!

It does! It has those very serious-sized claws like a bear. Their tiny roly-polyness keeps you from seeing their bearness.

I watched both angry and cranky – not sure I can detect TOO much difference. But the video after that showed a woman nose to nose with a wombat – wombat kissy face!
I woke up today thinking about this sweetie and wishing it would chitter at me.
Has someone already done lyrics? If so, they were almost certainly better than my effort, below. But it feels like we need lyrics. With apologies to The Bangles and to the memory of Prince (who wrote the original):
