Honestly? The only thing that might possibly allow me to even consider getting on a commercial flight again would be the guarantee of a lovely dog for a seat-mate. Preferably lap-ish size, so I could hold him/her; must touch, not just see.

Me, too. I hate flying; haven’t done it since 2001. If for no other reason (though there are other reasons), because it messes with my ears (and I’ve had three or four ear infections in the past few years…I thought I outgrew that!). We had a family friend who lost a lot of her hearing in one ear because of the effects of a flight.

Friends in Massachusetts once sent fresh lobsters to my family in Georgia. We didn’t know what was in the package, but we could hear all the scratching inside the box. Once I got the box open, my mom decided that the lobsters should have some air and room to move, so she put them on the kitchen floor. Which they then decided to explore. And the two cats would not come near them–they stayed at least 5 feet away from all the pinchies!
