The cat sounds are WONDERFUL!

They really are–will have to go back to them all when I’m not at work. Granted, people aren’t surprised when they hear cat noises coming out of my office.
I’m in love with Max the Lynx.

Oh, yes, that little pig asleep in the boy’s arms is beyond words cute – and Max the Lynx – those PAWS – and the purring – I hope he doesn’t “love bite”, or swat with those huge feetsies. And the gentle pussycat is so endearing – the intensity of curiosity is pretty winning!

One of my RAs in college adopted a rat from the psych lab after they were done with their experiments (at least they were just training them to do stuff and not doing physical tests on them). She was a sweet white rat named Rosie. Another friend who lived near school took her at the end of the year because the RA lived in Greece and couldn’t easily take her home.
I need a therapy pig. But I’ll take any little furry thing right now.

Okay, I just listened to all the big kitty sounds. The cougar and cheetah meows had me giggling, so that helped a little, and I could, indeed listen to the Jaguar purr for a while. Maybe I’ll pull up the purring cat on my white noise app.

Good on you Denver! Declawing should be outlawed everywhere!

I agree! This is a big step forward. Maybe it will encourage furniture designers to come up with clawproof fabrics or furniture designs. (Personally, I just decorate around my cats. It saves everybody a lot of grief.)

Re: decorate around the cats–YES!
My personal rule is, if I thought I’d be so upset that I might lose it and swat the cat if it was damaged/destroyed, it doesn’t ever come home.
It helps the pocketbook as well as keeping the kitties safer.

I think a lot of people might not know that declawing is bad. Twenty -four years ago when I got my dear departeds as kittens I thought to get them declawed and I called a vet that had been recommended to me. They simply said we don’t do de-claswing. I said OK, hung up and thought to call another vet. Something about the way the person said it made me call back and ask if there was something wrong with doing it and she explained. I was astonished and, of course, did not have them declawed.

Many years ago, when I first moved to Denver, most of the apartments I looked at insisted my cat be declawed. This is so much better now.

Especially since cats can’t do much damage to carpet. At least not with their claws! One of my grad-school kitties peed on every inch of the carpet and I didn’t get my security deposit back.

Oh, I beg to differ – tho’ I guess it depends if it’s carpet or rug – maybe that’s the problem. I stupidly saved and saved and finally found a beautiful rug for the dining room and our cat has made a mess of it. I vacuum up threads of it all the time and now it’s all tufty and no longer so beautiful. We tried so many things to stop her but none worked so I just gave up.

Murray C – I’m right there with you. I had a gorgeous Pottery Barn wool rug that the cats decimated. I found some really pretty rugs online, though, that are indoor/outdoor that they haven’t managed to destroy, though.

Rugs are a whole nother thing. Carpets are pretty tough, but not rugs. Now I buy those indoor/outdoor rugs too.
Murray CNovember 20, 2017 / 11:24 pm
I really never thought it through – I was so excited to get a rug that I loved and it never occurred to me that she’d think it was her personal scratching pad. STUpid. I mean, I put scratch pads EVERYwhere to try to dissuade her but the rug was just too delectable.

When my daughter moved to the mountains some years back, the first kitty she adopted, a lovely Siamese girl, had been declawed in ALL FOUR PAWS by the previous owners! The poor baby couldn’t climb, couldn’t even scratch herself, and couldn’t take care of her coat or do at least 99% of the things kitties do with their paws. I was truly horrified. Who would do that to an innocent kitty???
I also hate ear and tail docking. Sebastian the cocker’s tail was clipped down to about a 3-inch nub, and it’s just WRONG. He would have a beautiful tail with lovely long hair growing from it to wave about; as it is, all you can see is his butt wiggling. I wish the US would ban ear and tail docking like at least the UK has!
Anyway, enough ranting. I listened to the cat sounds as far as Max the Lynx’s purring yesterday before realizing that I had to send it in to Mike that very minute! So I saved the rest of the cats to listen to. I need to go listen to them now; I’ve delayed gratification as long as I can stand to. 😀

Couldn’t agree more, Laura – I pretty much feel that way about people, too! Unless it’s medically necessary, why have all sorts of expensive things done to change one’s body??? I’m never gonna have my tail docked.☺️

I too say ‘Good for Denver!” The cat curious about the bird reminded me of when my mother and I rescued a jaybird that had fallen from a high nest. People could not believe until they saw the pictures of that bird perched on our large cat’s back.

Wow I’d love to see that! Jaybirds are not the most let us say Zen birds.

My college’s mascot is the Blue Jay. The student handbook describes it as “a scrappy, fighting bird.”
