Eh, I just park further out. I get some exercise and it’s less stressful.

I would park further out, too, so that I’d have more time to snorgle with that adorable face. What an enthusiast.

That face! *snatches dog, enforces kisses*

I want to snuzzle the wrinkly forehead.

Off topic but I need some internet hugs. My cousin’s ex-wife passed away on Sunday. Not sure what happened, exactly, but it sounds like she might have fallen down the stairs (whether that was the cause or the result of something else, I don’t know; my dad said they’re doing an autopsy). Her roommate found her Sunday evening. Their kids are both in college and have finals next week, and then their daughter graduates, and then it’s Christmas. This cousin is the brother of my cousin who died in May. I could really use that office pup right now.

Allein, I send copious hugs – even tho’ I’m not a pup. That’s so terrible – we had a friend who died similarly and there’s always a nagging question. And to have had two deaths so close on one another just adds so much to the pain. Take comfort that all of us here are surrounding you with love and comfort as best we can in the cover world!

        Thanks, Murray. 🙂

And then my dad told me Christmas is going to be at my other uncle’s (Uncle C) house (usually he does Thanksgiving and Christmas is at my cousins’ father’s (Uncle W) house). Which makes sense since they brought the main food last year, anyway (my uncle W can’t do it himself, but it was tradition to have it at his house, though I can see why he might not be up for it this year). Which also means no traditional Christmas ping-pong tournament. It was already going to be weird because my cousin would be missing; not sure if a change of venue will make it more or less sad. :-/

Family deaths and the holidays are a tough combination. I’m sorry you’re going through this. On the other hand, the family will be together and be able to give each other support.

        • Murray C December 5, 2017 / 6:20 pm

Sadly, it will be what it will be – how you process it is all you can hope to have any control over. My Dad had a heart attack at a party on New Years Eve, taken out on a gurney just as all the bells and whistles for New Years went off, died a while later. My poor mother could never celebrate New Years after that, as you may imagine. Any death at the holidays is bound to color that time for years to come, but it does lessen and become more dealable. (if there be such a word)

Allein, sending you feathered hugs and comforting thoughts.
I’m missing Grampa this year, but somehow, at least for me, it helps to think that he’s spending Christmas with the “other side” of the family this year.

      • allein 🐾 December 5, 2017 / 11:51 am

        Thanks, Duckie. 🙂
I know I’m not the only one having a tough Christmas…but I was only expecting one tough factor, not this.

I’m really sorry, too, Allein. We went through this last year, losing both our moms so close together. Don’t give up on the holidays, though — try creating some new traditions, that honor memories while still letting you be at least a little festive. Even though I know it’s hard!
