If you need some reason to smile today, here’s a compilation of wacky, wiggly wombats so huge it tookย Sharon G. and Murray C. to send it in.

Dear Santa, For Christmas this year, I would like a wombat.

Oooh, what would happen if we all wrote that exact letter to Santa? I’m going to try it. I’ll post the response.

He’ll deliver it to Cutetropolis HQ, and then we’ll all make a field trip to visit Mike and the wombat! ๐Ÿ˜€

        Attention all Cutetropolitans,
Mike will be hosting the first annual Cutetropolis Wombat New Year’s Eve party this year.

    I need a house wombat.

    • Laura December 6, 2017 / 3:07 pm

DeeYes! A house wombat, to go witb the lap giraffe and the pygmy hippo! Oh, and a quokka for the nonstop smile! And maybe even a miniature sheep. Hey, I’m not greedy — my HOA allows me to have two animals per species, but nowhere does it specify *what* species I can have two of. And I only want one of each!

Letter to Santa sent. Looking forward to reply.
Peeps, I had a tiny cry in our mall today. I was passing the Angel Tree, and I paused to read a few tags. One of the tags was for a four year old girl, and all she was asking for was two pool noodles. I cried. Then I went to the Dollar store to se if they had any left. The woman there said no, but then she got on her phone and started calling and Googling around to see if she could find some. Canadian Tire had a whole bunch left from summer, so I limped to catch a bus and acquired two pink noodles. Picture a short chubby woman limping triumphantly through the mall joyfully waving two pink pool noodles.
I’m going to send a nice comment to that woman’s boss.

You have such a great soul, Duckie.

    • Smartypants December 6, 2017 / 7:53 pm

Wonderful! Well done by both of you.

  5. debg December 6, 2017 / 4:37 pm

Mike, the answer to your question above is always YES. I always want wombats.

Cutetropolitans, can I solicit your shoulders? Just got let go today, and I haven’t lost a job since I was about 20 years old. Now that I’m 52 with a mortgage, and 7 cats, and other adult accoutrements, I’m feeling really scared about the future.

    • jerzowa December 6, 2017 / 4:55 pm

Oh DEBG, that’s just awful! Sending you TONS of hugs and good vibes. Wish I could do more…

    • Duckie ? December 6, 2017 / 5:09 pm

Deb, you know we at Cutetropolis are sending you all our love and support, and feathered hugs and fur covered purrs.

    • allein ? December 6, 2017 / 5:12 pm

      Oh, no!

    • Laura December 6, 2017 / 5:25 pm

Oh my goodness, Deb! How awful for you! I have every confidence that with your wonderful skills and takents, however, you’ll find something else in no time. (((((DebG)))))

    • fkaWaldenPond December 6, 2017 / 6:12 pm

What the heck Debg?! Oh nooo! I am very sorry and I appreciate how you must be feeling. I am sure though, you will find something soon. Keep us posted–especially if you need encouragement and kindness. We’ll cheer you on!

    • tara December 6, 2017 / 6:21 pm

Oh DebG, Wow! I cannot believe this! I am so so sorry! And totally agree with Emsthemonster, this is rotten timing. You work so hard for them and promote them during your private time even! Sending lots and lots of hugs.

    • Smartypants December 6, 2017 / 7:56 pm

Oh Deb, I’m so sorry to hear that. Crappy timing too (not like there’s ever a good time). I’m sending encouraging vibes and hugs.

    • dubravkamcvmd December 6, 2017 / 8:40 pm

Oh no! You said they were making changes, always a bad sign. My fingers, and toes, are crossed for you.

    • Murray C December 8, 2017 / 6:04 pm

Oh, DEBG – that is such a travesty! What is their issue!!???? Obviously, all of us here are pulling for you in the biggest way. I so wish there was something more practical I could do.

  6. Emsthemonster December 6, 2017 / 4:49 pm

Oh DebG, I am so sorry, I really did not see it coming ๐Ÿ™
This really wasn’t elegant of them, when you are recovering from an operation, damn ๐Ÿ™
Such news are never welcome, but this timing was insensitive of them to say the least..
Me and the kitties offer all of our shoulders, hugs and purrs.

  7. allein ? December 6, 2017 / 5:02 pm

Why, yes, I do want some wombats, thank you very much!

  8. Michael December 7, 2017 / 3:53 am

About 1:46, that is an very attractive, expensive-looking, tidy, clean-looking family room and specifically sofa to let a wombat gambol on it. I guess maybe the homeowner does rescue, since she says to someone else that soon the wombat will be out digging? I don’t understand how she keeps the house looking that nice and the sofa not in tatters if she rescues animals with claws that long who probably can’t be housebroken.

To be clear, I’m in favor of rescue AND I’m in favor of nice-looking family rooms; I’m merely amazed they can be combined.

    • allein ? December 7, 2017 / 9:08 am

+1 for using the word “gambol” ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Michael December 8, 2017 / 5:19 am

Thank you, thank you very much. I’m not sure what recess of my brain came up with that, but I don’t recall considering another word. Looked like gamboling to me.

    • nano's_mom December 7, 2017 / 3:10 pm

Also at about then “Mummy’s just watching Mad Hazel” If I misheard that, don’t tell me. Mad Hazel is the best possible name for that baby!

      • Michael December 8, 2017 / 5:22 am

Can I tell you that you heard it right? Because that’s what it sounded like to me, too. I wasn’t sure if mad was part of the name or a descriptive term for her behavior at that moment, but either way, Mad Hazel it was. I’ve seen plenty of predator babies pick up a toy and shake it, but I’m not sure I’ve seen a herbivore do that. So Mad Hazel seems appropriate.
