Barkershop Quartet

On their way to the groomers, this trio of malamutes breaks into a harmonious howl! (We assume the driver was singing solo — so low we couldn’t hear him.)

“I don’t want to get the blow-dry this time”….”And they clipped my nails too short”….”And how come brother gets extra conditioner and I don’t?”…And…And…And…

Owner: Jeeze, every flippin’ time. Can’t you guys get along? The groomer is going to drop me.

? But maybe the name “Mal-a-mute” actually means that it would be bad if they were mute. ???

        🙂

Trying to keep my sense of humor up so I don’t break down crying, and I can accomplish the two things I need to do today at work. Viewing tonight; funeral tomorrow. 🙁

Hugs, Allein. Take care of yourself (as it sounds like you’re doing).

Take care, and just focus on what you need to do. I hope there will be other people with you to bring you comfort.

Thanks, Mike. Just got home from the viewing (well, we had dinner after). Just hoping it doesn’t snow too much tomorrow. Probably going to ride with my parents, though, just to have one less car (besides, we’re going to their house afterward, anyway, to do their Christmas tree). Funeral homes always have such tiny parking lots. There’s another viewing time for a couple hours, then the service is at the church around the corner (unless they decide to do it at the funeral home; if it snows enough it might be easier that way), then the cemetery/mausoleum is right down the street. She’ll be two spots over from my cousin and aunt, apparently.

They won’t have the autopsy results for a few weeks, but it sounds like she probably had a stroke. 🙁

Heading to bed soon. I’ll have to check in on the open thread tomorrow night sometime.

Allein, I’m so sorry – difficult time for you and your family. I hope there can be some time to remember and talk about the person who has passed – I’ve always found that to be incredibly comforting and amazingly therapeutic.

Her uncle and her children each spoke at the church service, then we went to the mausoleum (where we also visited my aunt Billie and cousin Jeff; she’ll actually be going in the space next to him, though they’re not right near my aunt like I thought Jeff was), then we went to a restaurant nearby for lunch, where my cousin invited anyone who wanted to say something to do so. A few people stood up and shared stories and memories.

The Three Tenors – beautiful singers
… and I thought Iam too old to fall in love with a singer of a boy (?) band. I think my Felix would like to join them for a nice grooming, he has just tossed the cat-comb to me 🙂

They are so adorable it brought tears to my eyes.

Something tells me that the dog groomer is groaning too in anticipation for this appoitnment

If I was the human I would howl along.

I could never own a dog breed who are so much smarter than people.

I have read that wolves, at least, never howl on the same note — they’re always separated by a third or a fifth or something, so that another wolf could tell how many of them were howling. Someone with a “tame” wolf said he tried to join in on the same note as his wolf and the wolf would immediately change notes so they didn’t overlap. This way a pack can broadcast its size.

That’s cool – I hadn’t heard that. It makes a lot of sense.

That’s great. I’ve loved every clip I’ve seen of wolves howling. Plus, they’re so beautiful. I think I like German Shepherds and Malamutes so much because they look so much like wolves.

My cats fainted listening to this.
