Great Moments in Computing

Menlo Park, California, 1968 — looking for an easier way to move a cursor across the screen, inventor Douglas Englebart experiments with pencil and paper, an Etch-A-Sketch, and a Ouija board, all without success. Frustrated, he rests his hand on his desk, where it comes into contact with a furry visitor. And from that humble moment of discovery, the computer hamster was born.
