Now Here’s a Stable Genius

Mariska the Houdini horse is, like, really smart — and a master escape artist who sets her friends free, too. Whether it’s a door, a gate or even a cooler, Mariska always knows the opening move.

Those “Lock her up” chants doesn’t seem to work.

Depends on how big the mouth is. She should be out in a jiffy. (humor).

I thought this only happened in Disney movies.

What a clever girl! Mariska reminded me of my own equine Houdini, my pony Little Boy that I had as a kid. Little Boy kept getting out of the coral and for the longest time we couldn’t figure out how he did it. All of a sudden we would get a call from the neighbours to come get him because he was eating the apples off their tree again.

Finally one day we spotted him doing it from a window, the little rascal would back-up to a specific point at the fence and push with his behind on it and since the soil was mostly clay, the post would lean down enough for him to climb on it and jump to the other side. But the really clever bit is, he would then push up the fence from the other side so to the naked eye it looked perfectly fine! LOL!

      That’s brilliant!

LOL!!! Should have signed him up to run for the Mayor’s position, just to start with! 😀

Oops, I meant “sign her up” for the position of Mayor. Who knows, she’s so smart that someday she may be our first female President!! 😀

Amazing. The owner should invest in zip ties.

      Chew right off.

Does she take herself for trail rides too?

So nice of Mariska to let all her friends out. Access to hay, check. Got the grain buckets, check. Goodies from the cooler, check. Gate open to the corral, check.

Now she only has to learn fill her own water bucket and sweep up the stable floor and she’ll be entirely self sufficient.

Oh my goodness. Love how she lets friend out/ pops in to visit. And cute current events reference, Mike!

Mariska is REALLY smart–not just, like, smart. (Brilliant wordplay, Mike!!!!)

We often worry about cats developing opposable thumbs. Horses don’t seem to need them!

Some, like really smart, people may need to start practicing. Or put Mariska on retainer asap.

Is she a Friesian? Smart *and* beautiful.

    Mike, thanks for the chuckle.

Know we try not to be political or too topical but I needed something to laugh not cry at.

Is it just me or did she skip some of the doors and only let her BFFs out?

    • Claire January 8, 2018 / 12:40 pm

I saw that too! She definitely skipped at least one. Wonder what that one did to offend her.

I noticed that, too! She went right past the first stall next to hers, even though there was a horse in there.
