The Dogmino Theory

You’ll tumble with laughter as this careful couple builds a domino wall while their persistent pup Haru just wants to play. In the end, they get the job done, and then it’s up to Haru to do the honors.

Very adorable! And he is trying to be good boy. But – why oh why oh why would you even ATTEMPT this with a furry creature in the room??!

Why attempt a domino chain? For the audience amusement, such as us, I suspect! And, obviously, it was VERY entertaining. 😀

You know that dog’s immediate thought afterwards is:

    Again!! Again!!

Adorable pooch!! And when pooch wants someone to help him play with his stuffie, his humans should oblige him and forget their silly stuff. Well, they redeemed themselves at the end, when they let Haru have some fun.

They also played Jenga with him in another video.

I’m imagining this with cats. The wall would never get built, because cats wouldn’t think to grab a different toy–they’d want to chase all the dominos.

    Smart boy, Haru.

Mom! Dad! Are you planning to return my stuffie? No, please don’t! Please take the price tag off it!

Shiba Inus have a more intelligent expression on their faces than most people. So smart.

This is adorable! & reminds me of my late dogs most hilarious character trait: he’d play with one of his toys, tossing it around, & ever-so-slowly edging closer toward whatever forbidden item or object he had his eye on. Eventually he’d be playing with his toy next to said item & just casually nip or chew on it real quick before going back to his toy. So sneaky!!

I won’t downvote this, but I am a bit of a ’nuffer (I can’t even remember what that originally meant; it sounds like a shortening of “enough,” but what would that mean?).

Yeah, why keep the dog in the room, unless it’s a one-room apartment? Or maybe he barks if they shut him alone in another room? But it’s probably for our amusement. So, sure, people, keep yelling “NO” at him (or just “NO” in frustration, but “NO” and his name are probably the only two words he for certain recognizes; he THINKS you’re yelling “NO” at him) and then laughing because his disobedience is exactly what you wanted for the video.

Then, at the end, tell him to DO the exact thing you just spent hours yelling “NO” at him for doing. and be amused again.

I don’t want to be silly about this, but everything I’ve ever been taught says consistency is the key to training a dog. Don’t let them jump up half the time and yell at them the other half. Don’t tell them they can’t have something and then give in. All it does is confuse them, convince them you aren’t serious, act as intermittent reinforcement (which is THE BEST WAY to reinforce a behavior — you can make a pigeon peck until it dies of exhaustion with intermittent reinforcement), and make training impossible.

To me, this light-hearted, fun video depicts dog abuse. Sorry.

Now, someone said it’s part of a series so maybe the dog is trained to make these videos, not to take the “NO”s during them seriously, to know what’s expected of him. Okay, fine. But it LOOKS just TERRIBLE.
