Try a Starter Cat

Are you looking to get your first cat, but not sure if it’s right for you? Then adopt a Starter Catβ„’ from Modular Farms Kitty Shelter. You’ll bring home a ball of fur that radiates warmth along with a vague purring noise. Keep it for a few days to see if you get used to it. Take it to the park. Sit next to it while you watch TV. If you like it, bring it back and we’ll attach the head, legs and tail free while you wait.

    My cat went full loaf!!

What a wonderful marketing idea. I’ll take a marmie loaf and a grey tabby one, please. Do they come in different sizes? If so, I would like a mini-loaf in black and white.

    • allein April 28, 2016 / 8:22 pm

      I only found gray, sorry..

    • beemoused April 29, 2016 / 6:18 am

I think the really teeny ones would be kitcakes–I would like half a dozen please, any variety.

Does one have to allow time for the loafs to rise? (Yes, the plural of kittyloaf is kittyloafs, because that’s what they do!)

    • Julie April 28, 2016 / 10:14 pm

      Ha Ha Ha!!

      Then I have 2 puppyloafs!!!

  7. Faye April 28, 2016 / 8:59 pm

NTMTOM and u guys r making me laugh all day. Priceless.

My cat does not loaf. I think someone skipped an ingredient during the fermentation phase. She came out a tad too alert.

  8. Kar April 28, 2016 / 9:02 pm

That is impressive. How does kitty breath?

    • Murray C. April 28, 2016 / 9:08 pm

It was another crucial function that was worrying me.

      • Kar April 28, 2016 / 10:45 pm

honestly, that’s secondary in terms of chronology.

        • Murray April 28, 2016 / 11:51 pm

          ?

  9. Faye April 28, 2016 / 9:03 pm

No hair balls or kitty litter involved?! I’ll stick with the starter model.

    • Lurkingduck April 29, 2016 / 10:59 am

Great idea, Faye! That way, those of us who live in condos with reeeeeeally strict bylaws could still have our pets!

      • Faye April 29, 2016 / 12:00 pm

Yes. Stealth loaf cat. Fools everyone every time. Cat? Or tiny hassock?

        • Lurkingduck April 29, 2016 / 8:38 pm

Neither. It’s just a couch pillow.

          • Faye April 29, 2016 / 8:53 pm

            What cat? ?

  10. Emmberrann April 28, 2016 / 9:27 pm

    Brilliant!

  11. Faye April 28, 2016 / 9:36 pm

Just try to say “My cat went full loaf.” without laughing.

  12. Gigi_the cat lady April 28, 2016 / 11:05 pm

I can’t believe no one said it yet so here I go … I loaf him! ❀️

    • Murray April 28, 2016 / 11:48 pm

Do you kneeeead him??? (Just trying to get a rise out of you)

  13. sugitomo April 29, 2016 / 12:01 am

I think the proper term for this one would be cat boule.

    • Faye April 29, 2016 / 5:11 am

      My cat went full boule!

      • Faye April 29, 2016 / 7:39 am

Great name for an eatery of some sort. ???

    • AJ April 29, 2016 / 11:12 am

Actually I think the more accurate term for the above cat would be demi-loaf or even large baguette. This is what a true cat boule looks like, in the marbled rye version.

      • Faye April 29, 2016 / 12:02 pm

Marbled Rye. I’m ded. Waiter there’s a whisker on my pastrami!

        • AJ April 29, 2016 / 12:22 pm

LOL, with this boule it’s more apt to be a long hair. Kitty used to shed sooo much he had to be brushed every day for about 1/2 hour so he wouldn’t end up with mats.

          • Faye April 29, 2016 / 1:26 pm

AJ that is your loaf? Name? Gender? Pretty please.

            • AJ July 15, 2016 / 1:39 pm

Faye – just noticed your comment after going back into this thread (after several months, lol). Kitty wasn’t mine, I was just catsitting for a few months while his elderly owner was recuperating from a bad fall. His name was Mr. Paddywack, about 10 years old and he was a Maine Coon Cat. Sweetest lump of cat you’ll ever know.

  14. murkle46 April 29, 2016 / 10:25 am

I think another way to put it is “going full “Butterball””?

    • Faye April 29, 2016 / 12:03 pm

      That’s close to full blorp.

  15. fkaWaldenPond April 29, 2016 / 8:05 pm

Would it be awfully wrong to want on occasion to trade my loud-flappy-lipped-yelly sixteen-year-old marmie for a starter cat? This quiet model would be a nice respite every now and then.

    • Faye April 29, 2016 / 8:09 pm

      We won’t tell. Lol.

      • fkaWaldenPond April 29, 2016 / 9:51 pm

Pheeeeww, thanks; keep keeping it on the down-low. πŸ˜‰

    • Murray C. April 29, 2016 / 9:57 pm

We have a “geriatric” pale marmie who gets really abusive with the language at times! And she’s in that Lauren Bacall deep-throated stage. She always manages to wait until you’re just about to doze off and loudly stomps around the bed caterwauling like a creature from the Nether World! What’s up with this???

      • Faye April 29, 2016 / 10:27 pm

Sounds like she’s going through Menopaws. I had all that exactly.

        • Murray April 29, 2016 / 10:38 pm

NAILED IT! ? (Wow, did you caterwaul and stomp around the room?)

      • fkaWaldenPond April 29, 2016 / 11:27 pm

Seriously!!!! Murray C! What the heck?; same with my gawd-damned spritely (due to my weekly subcutaneous fluid iv’s) marmie! He throws this abusive well, ahem caterwauling throaty yells out that sound like Ma Rainey but without the obvious human talent. Ohhhhh boy, good thing I love him; that is all I tell him at 5am daily as he is intent on sharing the blues to me and the entire building. I get it growing old and dotty sucks but sheesh be considerate about it already… tgif!
