Links: A Shared Cat Remembered

And finally: The Old Watering Hole

When staff at a Texas energy laboratory hid a camera at the bottom of a bucket, they captured all the local wildlife stopping by for a drink (Bored Panda, via Andrew Y., Faye, and Megan W.)

For those interested, here is an update on Beauty from the website of Birds of Prey NW

Beauty is doing very well. Her upper beak has slowly regenerated some growth, which pushed the specially-fitted beak prosthesis off. The GREAT news in this is that the beak growth now allows Beauty to feed herself. We cut strips of salmon (one of her favorites) and lay them out, and she is able to scoop them up to eat on her own. We are in a wait and see pattern before determining any kind of new prosthetic beak, which is dependent upon any continued regrowth.

Beauty continues to live in her own large aviary where she moves about, spreads her wings during short flights, perches on large tree limbs, and looks out over forested mountains and a lake. She remains a stunning, very special bald eagle, and a reminder that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

Mike – thanks for the links and thank you for this site!

The silly rat dog with the NOBLE STEED is the best. Even when overdog is standing on underdog’s face, underdog never objects. He’s basically a fuzzy-faced Buddha.

    Love that Bucket video.
‘Cept that I wanted that longhorn to wash his face first before drinking.

Was the kitty a Time-Share ? Where do you get a lease on one of those ?

    • birdlady26 May 10, 2017 / 12:25 pm

Ask your friends for those time-share kitties. I had friends spend extended time (months) out in Seattle visiting relatives and their kitty came to live with me and my other kitties.

I also have an outdoor time-share kitty. Probably belongs to one of the neighbors, but spends most every day , all day in my yard, rain or shine, snow or sun, year round. I’ve been feeding the little girl kitty for almost a year now. She has absolute no interest in staying inside, which works out fine, since my inside kitty hates outdoor kitties. Probably a bit jealous of being in the great outdoors. Big sigh. She’ll just have to settle for being out on the screened in porch.

I’ve got a time share kitty sitting on my lap right now. It belongs to my neighbor, but she visits me a couple of times a week. ^.^

I’m stunned on clicking the wombat fabric link. Not by the fact that there IS a wombat fabric, but because there are so MANY to choose from!!!

    • debg May 10, 2017 / 2:44 pm

I’m proud to say I acquired some wombat fabric last year. Still haven’t decided what to do with it. But I HAVE IT.

Make a quilt. Tell people you have wombats on your bed.

Aren’t they great? I esp. like the Aboriginal ones by ‘mariafaithgarcia’ – although “Minty Wombats” also deserves a prize for best title.

(adding) – DebG, I think it def. needs to be made into some sort of pouches (because marsupials…).

I was thinking of project bags for knitting. Would that work?

Not much wildlife visiting that bucket–mostly domesticated critters, but a beautiful film all the same.

    • fkaWaldenPond May 11, 2017 / 10:25 pm

? I saw bees, looks like a House Finch and her partner and bunny… plus roosters, donkey and steer. A few filmed hours in one day and ‘even-steven’ for wildlife and domesticated critters.
I can watch the bees float-twirling for a good long time.
