Not That Mike The Other Mike

You don’t know what it’s like for a little kitten like me to live in a house with two energetic dogs, a cranky older cat who hisses and whaps at me and a human toddler who keeps mistaking me for one of his stuffed toys. The stories I could tell you would make your hair curl.

    This is a Selkirk Rex. It’s a fairly new breed. First ones were from a litter between 2 regular coated cats that produced 3 straight haired kittens and 3 with this curly fur. The curly fur ones were bred to Persians to get the longer coat and the rest is history. Their curly fur doesn’t tangle which is a great thing. I saw several of them when I was showing my Persians. Easy to look up their history to get more info.

        I think it would have to be PINCURLS as rollers wouldn’t make them tiny enough. Envision dozens of little miniature bobby pins all over!! I know how to groom Persians but I don’t think I’d have enough patience to comb each little curl the Selkirk’s get to keep their shape.

            Oh, I wasn’t meaning what you sent wasn’t cute (it was)!! And those were on a Persian I would suspect. After your comment about rollers, my imagination just went a little bit further and envisioned bobby pins and little pincurls. 🙂 I doubt if I could find a picture showing that. HEHE!! I was going by what the curls look like. Wrap the fur from one curl around your finger tip, slip it off, and hold it down/together with a bobby pin. And go on to the next curl. HOURS OF TORTURE for both cat and groomer.

              After your previous post I googled kitten in pincurls and got lots of curly-haired kitties.
