Awww! Happy father’s day!
That’s wonderful – the gorilla was so sweet – and funny! He seemed a little perplexed about which end was up with baby gorilla.
😀 And it looked like he was fiddling with a nappy– ‘hmmm which way, how does this go on…let’s see… instructions were, take baby, bum side up…’
?
Cornell put together this excellent photo gallery of papa birds!! https://www.allaboutbirds.org/celebrating-great-dads/?utm_source=Cornell%20Lab%20eNews&utm_campaign=4074d77285-Cornell%20Lab%20eNews%205_10_2017&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_47588b5758-4074d77285-313240917
🙂 I was out this morning and walked out on the quay bordering the Credit River and Lake Ontario– the water level is at a record high, alarming actually– the good news though is there was a very proud Mama Swan on her nest with proud Pops, keeping a watchful eye. She got up to shift and she had four eggs! I think she purposely moved to show them off. 😀 😉
Oh, that reminds me! (this was on Zooborns a few days ago, but I didn’t think of it for Father’s Day) It’s super cute video of a ‘Darwin’s Rhea’ family – a big bird like an emu where the dad raises the kids: https://youtu.be/CG6UhmeOOpg
Just love the rhea chicks’ onesies.
Happy Father’s Day from Henry and Fiona!
Fiona has such a handsome papa! Almost as good-looking as her wonderful mom, Bibi! Seriously, what is it about hippos that makes them so cute? (As long as they’re accustomed to humans in the zoo, that is — in the wild they can be pretty terrifying!)
Marvelous! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her interacting with Papa Blorp before.
Henry’s tongue is almost as big as Fiona.
Oh, my heavens that’s so cute! His schnozzola is big enough to suck her right in! Yet he can gently lick her – he wasn’t just TASTING her, right?????
Adorable! -for the hippo-
And another reason I am glad not to be a hippo. I am glad my father never licked my whole face before. Or any part of it for that matter. 😀
I would regularly tell my kiddos when they had gotten particularly dirty, “Aren’t you glad you are not like the cat or dog and have to lick yourself clean?”
Yeah – the closest I ever came to that was my mother spitting on a hanky and cleaning some imaginary schmutsch off of my face – YUCK!
