It’s a tough call. The striped bed has a pleasing, fashionable interplay of lights and darks, tastefully arranged to delight the senses, while the plain bed offers deeper cushioning for a superior sleep experience. I guess I’ll have to split the difference and loathe them both.

Personally I think the plain bed looks comfier.
I might just need a nap.
pure essence of cat
Striped beds are made for tabbies, so the family should get a pretty tabby as well.
The reasoning of a cat is a wondrous and enigmatic thing.
Bet cat uses both beds while its’ humans are out of the house or sleeping.
Schrödinger’s cat beds. The cat could be sleeping in both beds simultaneously or not at all or in either one. But humans will never observe said sleeping!
I’ve found it helpful to sprinkle catnip in a new bed or place a favorite toy in it. If that doesn’t work, then place the cat in it. The issue is that the new object is not Where I Traditionally Sits. Why boxes are exempted from this policy is unclear.
It also helps to place the bed Where I Traditionally Sits.
Excellent advice. Of course the cat will still do what it wants, but you’ll improve the odds that it wants to try out the new bed.
Put the deeper bed in the striped one. Would that work?
