This distinguished grey-haired gentleman is Eddie, among the oldest known otters in the world. A resident of the Oregon Zoo since 2000, Eddie enjoys senior status, which includes lots of treats, a dedicated physical therapist, and the right to change the channel in the TV room whenever he wants. The basketball therapy for his arthritis brought tears to my eyes.
The whole story brought tears to my eyes. Sometimes your worst day turns out to have been your best day.
Eddie pulls at my heartstrings, just like elderly pets do!
This is so lovely. Of course ideally all otters would live happy lives in the wild, but it’s still wonderful to see them getting excellent care in good zoos that work for species and environmental preservation. Eddie is adorable. I hope I’m that cute when I’m of comparable age.
As cute as this is, I can’t help but wonder if they edited out when he yells at youngsters to get out of his kelp forest.
LOL I’d LOVE to see that!

I love Eddie! He’s got mad skillz at basketball! Plus he looks so plushy and soft.
