Backstage with Fiona

Just released: A new super-fresh episode of The Fiona Show, in which we go behind the scenes with Fiona and her mother Bibi to get a look at their morning routine. At over 850 pounds, Fiona is way past her “cuddly” stage, but she still delights the care team with her cute antics, such as when she steals her mama’s breakfast. And while that’s going on, zoo staff get her outdoor enclosure ready for their morning swim. (via Lois M.)

My lab got very excited at the sound of Bibi’s kibble being measured out. Now I feel bad and have to get her a treat.

Sometimes I think she’s going deaf in her old age, then she does something like that and I realize the deafness is selective and voluntary.

What a gorgeous girl. I was so sad to hear of her daddy passing last year, it’s almost his anniversary! My daddy’s too (17 years), the time flies. Lots of hugs to all my fellow Cuties, and your loved ones.

You have no idea how fast I open an email when I see it’s from the Cincinnati Zoo!! This time Mike took only a couple of hours to post it to Cuteropolis after I sent it to him so everyone could enjoy seeing OUR little (well, not so much any more) girl and her mommy.

What a lovely video. All the details that go on behind the scenes, and so much preparation like working on tolerating blood draws and practice capsules–I love how they’re thinking ahead on these things.

Our not-so-little-anymore Fiona is in very good hands.
