Forgotten Child Stars

Television’s golden era of the mid-twentieth century produced many young characters remembered to this day: Dennis the Menace. Spin and Marty. Walter Cronkite, Boy Reporter. But one name is lost to history: a charming ingenue and her roly-poly sidekick who delighted viewers with their madcap antics: Buckaroo Betty and Wally the Wonder Wombat.

They have the same smile. It’s a little disconcerting.

I see that Wombat Hugging goes back to at least the 1950s. Love her Annie Oakley type outfit and the vintage bicycle. And of course the Wombat is properly tank shaped.
