And finally: It’s Casper, the Friendly Ghost!

Wait — My bad, it’s Stanley, the Smiling Sea Lion (via Arne).

Coincidentally, I just came from the printer, where I had to wait a minute for it to warm up because apparently I’m the first to use it today.

Sadly, no kitties sleeping on it. 🙁

Also, I notice they tell you how to pronounce Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen but not the other one. I guess they don’t know how, either.

Side note: I once worked with a guy whose mother bred Petite Basset Griffon Vendéens. She had passed away a few years before but he still had her 6 doggos. I went to his house once to carpool to another location for work and got to see them (but only through the door because he didn’t want to get them all riled up for a visitor).

I think they’re SO cute! Not sure I’ve ever seen one in person, but in pictures – sigh.

I’ve seen some terribly bad guides online. Here is a less-terrible, but still only rough guide:

NAYderlahntsuh KOYkerhunchuh, with secondary stress on the penultimate syllable of each word.

Bear in mind that there is more than one dialect of Dutch, so pronunciations, even in the Netherlands, will still vary.

    Here are some native speakers:

    https://forvo.com/word/nederlandse/#nl
    https://forvo.com/word/kooikerhondje/

You may notice the K in Kooikerhondje sounds a bit like a “hard g.” That’s because less air is released on the initial or stressed k sound than would be in many types of English.

They sure look adorable, don’t they?
