The portraits of the black dogs and cats, and the captions, are great.
Love the black dogs and cats, love the seal with her stuffie but most of all, I adore the Parkland therapy dogs. As has been said many times, we do not deserve dogs – God’s best work. β€β€β€πππ
I used to work with a woman whose daughter does black cat (and dog, but mostly cats, I think) photos for her local shelters in the LA area. I love that there seem to be more and more photogs doing this.
Love Maya’s caption: “Won’t make eye contact until you’ve downed four tequila shots and said ‘Xoloitzcuintli’ correctly. Good luck.”
I guess we won’t be making eye contact but I’ll still cuddle her.
(It amuses me how many comments on dogs that either have obviously female names or are referred to in the caption as “she” still refer to them as “he.”)
I love the cyclops cat with the single fang peeking out.
Also, I laughed out loud when I scrolled to that labrador. That dog is ready for adventure.
I never really understood the problem with adopting animals with black fur. Do people give an actual reason? And don’t tell me it is superstition. There’s nothing more beautiful than a sleek and shiny black cat or a black lab. What the?
I think part of it is just that they’re harder to see in pictures so people browsing a shelter’s website (where the pictures aren’t usually done by pros) tend to overlook them.
Superstition is absolutely part of it. I work with a person terrified of the number 13. Some people don’t think good.
I had a coworker who, when the fax log reached 666, skipped it and went straight to 667.
When I worked in the store I had a customer add a $3.00 Godiva chocolate bar to their purchase because their total came to $6.66. I, on the other hand, got that total once at the cafeteria so I asked for a receipt and put it up on my cubicle wall.
Both my Phred and BenHim were black and beautiful.
The only way to go.
The first link made me miss my long-departed and never-to-be-forgotten hauspanther.
Those Parkland kids and their dogs are so strong.
