Wombats in a Winter Wonderland

We’re used to seeing wombats foraging for food in Australia’s warmer months, but the land down under gets cold weather too, forcing the tough, tenacious wombat to trundle through the snow in search of its favorite grass, in this scene from the BBC Earth series Seven Worlds, One Planet.

I’d like to register a complaint, namely, that Australia seems to have more than their share of unique and adorable animals: wombat, platypus, koala, wallaby, quokka, echidna, roo, tasmanian devil… okay, maybe not that last one. But how on earth is this even remotely fair??!! ๐Ÿ˜‹

It balances out the amount of critters they have that will kill you without a second thought. ๐Ÿ˜›

They also have their fair share of one-shot-kill-you animals as well. I think the cuteness balances that out. ๐Ÿ˜€

      Edit:
You beat me by a minute!

Tazzies are hilarious! They’re adorable because of that. But I cosponsor your complaint and move that Australia share its cute animals more equitably with the rest of the world. (They can keep the poisonous snakes and spiders, saltwater crocs, etc.) Does anyone second my motion? Personally, I want a quokka to move into my back yard. I will hug it and pet it and squeeze it and call it George!

The back leg scritching! The slow-mo noshing! Too cute!!! And I’ll second the motion and sign a petition stating that Australia needs to share the qte.

Yes. Yes. I third the motion. All this talk about income inequalityโ€”what about QTENESS inequality.

Their mouths and front teeth make them look like little old men with dentures eating chewy food very carefully.

I was browsing through a new store at our shopping center yesterday, looking specifically at the Ugly Christmas Sweaters section, when suddenly I spotted a wombat! It was the most darling sweater I’d ever seen. The wombat had decorations on it, and I decided I had to have a wombat Christmas sweater or I would die. So I picked it up and went to the mirror so I could see how it would look. I unfolded it and held it against me, and only then did I discover that the wombat had antlers and was actually a reindeer.

LOL! Calling all knitters: Duckie needs a wombat Christmas sweater STAT!!!

I can help. In fact, once I get the design established, I can make them for all Cutetropolitans.

I want a wombat Christmas sweater, too! โ˜น๏ธ
There is a wombat-Christmas story book.

A wombat saves Christmas! Sounds like a great story.

Wow! That is an unreasonably large number of wombat sweaters. I wouldn’t have thought to even look! Well done, Allein.

I was just gonna post one picture but there were so many…!

(Though I must quibble with the idea that the quantity is “unreasonable”…)

            Agreed.
