Weekend Open Thread

Happy Caturday! Back in his Cute Overload days, your humble host added an item to the famous “Rules of Cuteness” — If you sleep in a yin/yang position, it’s cute. And here are Bertie and Cheshire, from reader Squiddy, with their own unique take.

The kitties decided to take a nap on my lap and being the Angels of Light that they are, this was how they chose to do it. The best part? They’re smiling. My heart may have exploded into rainbows.

I love Cutetropolis and grateful you keep the cuteness overload going 🤗💛. I had forgotten about the Rules of Cuteness. Can you use the rules more often? Can you ask the stoat to vote for the return of the rules? 🐾🐾🐈🐾🐾

You are a lucky woman, Squiddy. I had forgotten about the Rules of Cuteness too. Were they ever collected in one place?

Happy Caturday! I like this take on the yin and yang.

Saw this on my facebook last night, from UPS Dogs’ Scott Hodges:
Public Service Announcement to small floofers from Cupcake

I have no plans this weekend. My dad has my tablet; it was having issues so he was troubleshooting and also got me a new battery, so I’ll have to go get that at some point. Sunny and 34 degrees at the moment. Making some tea (using up the last of my Reindeer Fuel this weekend). Laundry ‘n’ stuff. That’s all

Thanks for the Scott Hodges. He is really good.

So sweet and very cute. Some days, I really miss having a kitty in the house, then I remember all the craziness so I’m satisfied seeing pictures and doing the occasional foster to get my fix.

I also saw Scott’s UPS Dogs’ post and between Mike and him, they’ve really brightened up my days. I think we need to start a petition for the two of them to team up and do a book of their most popular posts.

Already have cleaned both bathrooms, after this cute break, I’m on to the kitchen, then putting clothes away. Then off to meet a new friend for coffee and see how simpatico we are. Isn’t it strange how as we get older, it’s harder to make (and keep) friends in real life? I got brave and tried a app called Bumble where you can search for new BFF’s. Kinda like Tindr but only for females. We shall see!

Rest of the weekend will be low key, hubby is traveling for work and I’m fighting the crud again. A few errands and hockey tomorrow. Then just resting up for the work week.

    Happy weekend everyone!

I had completely forgotten about the Rules of Cuteness… which is akin to forgetting about the Bill of Rights or the Constitution. 😋

I think my computer issues have finally been resolved. It was a painful few weeks in which I was able to spend just a bare minimum of time online – now you’ll never get rid of me. 😅

So good to see the Rules of Cuteness again! We need a corollary to the yin/yang rule: if you only use your heads and necks, it’s even cuter!

Bertie and Cheshire are indeed angels of light, Squiddy! Such sweet smiles!

I’m stuck in the car dealership for the next few hours. The TV is set to HGTV. I’m not sure if it’s better or worse than sports—so inspiring and I don’t just tune it out. They’re renovating a row house in Chicago right now. What I could do with my house if I had the money! Or what I could do with a renovation of a bigger house! Sigh.

We had 70 degree weather last weekend, and this week has featured TWO snowstorms with chilly weather. Springtime in the Rockies . . .

Once I get errands done, I can spend more time with my spinning wheels and my online dyeing course. I’m also putting together fiber samples and a lesson to teach an 11-year-old to spin. A friend is actually doing the lesson and asked me to help. So it’s another fibery weekend!

His work is stunningly beautiful. I wish more of the pictures included the setting. Thanks for the link.

We’re drowning here in the great Pacific Northwest! My house has gotten 5.6 inches rain in 4 days. And I’m not even in any of the worst hit areas! It’s made my commute all week absolute misery because there’s roads closed due to flood both west and south of me, and all their traffic has to reroute through my town. Took me an hour and a half to get to work the other day and one of the guys at the gym said it took him two and a half to get home. UGH!

Lily and I are wistfully dreaming of sunnier days…

      Such a beautiful picture!

Art worthy pic of the Lovely Lily.

      • Dulcie February 8, 2020 / 1:49 pm

Lily is stopping to smell the… hellebores?

        • Jan B. February 8, 2020 / 3:10 pm

Coyly peaking from behind the hellebores!

Today is Taxman appointment day! One step closer to having actual tax refund money to spend on furniture for the art studio. I’ve honed in on a desk, drafting chair, tv, tv stand, storage shelf, window shades, exercise bench. And I can afford to have a handyman come in to unpack and assemble everything! Second round In April will be AC, overhead fan, comfy chair. I am beyond excited!

Millie had to learn to get into a dog bed in the studio. She had no idea what it was! She has had 24/7 access to my(her) bed from the first day I brought her home at 12 weeks old. Yesterday I sat in the room mentally arranging furniture and she snoozed in her new bed on her own.

Love Ying Yang kittie heads, Squiddy.

Happy for you Faye! It is exciting to decorate!☺️ Kisses to Millie💋

Thank you Six Rabbits! Just finalized shopping list and sketched out placement.

The kittens and I are having an adventure today. I’m taking them to the groomer to get their teeth cleaned? So far, they’ve rolled with everything I’ve thrown at them, but we’ll see how they handle this new experience. Afterwards, lunch with a friend and then the new Little Women movie.

Still trying to convince the cats that weekends exist. Every morning, they wake me up with licks to my face and walking across my head. When I open my eyes, they are inches from my face. The most adorable, yet extremely persistent alarm clock ever!

    Flying visit. Crazy day.
Bertie and Cheshire, I would love to have you on my lap doing just that.
This week: sinus infection; incited a potential strike at our mall; discovered hubby’s previous employer dumped $250 into our account because of missed hours payment; Duckie responding to training.
    Have a grand weekend all.

    • 6rabbits February 8, 2020 / 5:28 pm

Incited a potential strike?! 😳 Do tell!

      • Duckie 🐥 February 8, 2020 / 6:56 pm

Local mall is VERY stingy in their pay habits. One employee was bemoaning her situation, and I told her the whole mall staff group should strike. She said they couldn’t strike because they weren’t union. I said if they were union, they wouldn’t need to strike. She asked how they should go about this. I said get everyone in on it, call the newspaper, and at the appointed time, give notice that they were striking. Having the newspaper there would make it public.

        • dubravkamcvmd February 8, 2020 / 9:33 pm

Wow! I really hope that works out! Keep us posted.

        • 6rabbits February 8, 2020 / 10:31 pm

          YAY!! 🤩
Good for you! I hope they do it. People who set pay limits have little idea of what minimum rate workers go thru. The laws that have come about recently limiting unions are horrible.

    • Ricky & Bibi's Mom February 8, 2020 / 5:43 pm

Sorry about the sinus infection. But all the rest sounds EGGcelent! Go Duckie(s)!

Almost forgot to update, new friend meet-up went really well. Two hours flew by while we had a nice lunch and got to know each other. She’s really cool, belongs to the local Mustang car club and has two gorgeous Mustangs (kinda newish not vintage but still nice looking). Plus get this – blinged out stiletto shoes to match each car. My kind of lady!! Going to hang out next weekend too. So off to a good start.

    • dubravkamcvmd February 9, 2020 / 12:22 pm

That’s terrific! Hope it’s the start of a wonderful friendship.
