Happy Caturday, Cutetropolitans! Today would be a great day to do some spring cleaning, to go through those old boxes in forgotten spaces and find cats in them, which is where reader Muppet2171 found Teller:
Specifically in a heretofore unpacked moving box that he has commandeered. I have no idea what’s in the box anymore. It’s now just bedding for my cat. I guess after 6 years, I don’t need whatever it is.
Trust me, I know all about the havenโt-opened-the-moving-box-in-5-years-guess-
I-donโt-need-it situation!๐ Whatโs amazing is when you finally open one and go โoh, thatโs where that is!โ
Especially when you arenโt the one who packed those boxes in the first place!
We are actually supposed to have SNOW flurries here next week!โน๏ธ Hopefully we will get fully โspringโ soon. I put out all my considerable saved-up bunny fur for the birds and it was gone in 2 days. Lots of soft nests! Iโve already had 2 bird families in my pine treeโsquabbly little things those babies are!
What a lovely, generous thought! Providing shed bunny fur for birds to use in their nests.
I think I have the record for packing stuff and then not opening for years. When we moved from FL to CA in 2010, we put some stuff we didnโt need in storage thinking oh next year or so weโll come clear it out. Nope, took us 10 years before we were able to move it to CA. Talk about surprises in every box. Lots of oh thatโs where that was hiding, and huh, forgot we had those. Best part was after asking all my nieces and nephews what they wanted and getting crickets in response, I sold the stuff at auction and made about $350. And Teller is looking as handsome as ever and quite comfy.
Leaving the dentist… my face is numb ๐ฆท
My friend’s sister posted a couple pictures of their soon-to-be puppy; looks less like a potato and more like a real dog. Very cute.
Getting my first Pfizer shot on Tuesday! (Second dose May 11.) I was looking at the state’s vaccine finder site on Thursday morning, and it said the hospital in my town had appointments available as of a half hour or so earlier, so I went to their site and filled out the request form; it said they would call within 5 business days and if I didn’t answer the first time they would try one more time before moving on to the next in line. I missed a call about two hours later that could have been them (it was a local number, but I was in the other room and didn’t hear the phone). Got a call from the same number late yesterday morning and it was them. A Friday would have been better, in case of side effects, but it’s at 6pm and I work from home the next two days, so at least I won’t have to worry about going out if I feel bad. And there shouldn’t be too much going on so if I feel bad enough I can take a sick day and go back to bed.
The question remains: Who’s Dave?
Love them!โฅ๏ธ
Andrew is so gentle as he’s washing Miss Mabel. These three make me so happy.
Allein, of course everyone is different, but most people I know have had their vaccines and none have had reactions more than a day or so of not feeling great. I had the flu-ish achy feeling for about a day after the first one, just mostly tired after the second one. (On the plus side, got the best night of sleep Iโd had in quite awhile!!!) ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ to you!!
Definitely take a pre-emptive tylenol that night.
!! Just make sure if you do that itโs Tylenol, NOT ibuprofen. Anti-inflammatory meds (ibuprofen, Alleve, Motrin, aspirin, etc) will keep your body from receiving full benefit from the vaccine.
I had virtually no side effects from the first Pfizer shot. A wee headache and fever for an hour or so, and that was it. I got my 2nd dose 4 days ago and am still feeling kinda crappy, but definitely nothing that some ibuprofen and some rest can’t handle. I usually get hit pretty hard by the annual flu shot, so if I am feeling no worse after the 2nd COVID shot, that may bode well for you. Good luck!
Thanks! ๐ฅฐ
Imagine you’re a cat and you find a box. That in itself is exciting! Now imagine the glorious feeling when you find out it is a QUILTED box!
Teller looks so satisfied.
And 6Rabbits…fur lined nests!! Talk about luxury!!
Good luck with the shots Allein!
Teller clearly found the best nap spot in the house. 6Rabbits, I too know all about finding stuff 6 years later, in boxes packed by other people. Allein, good on you for the shots.
Another quiet weekend here. I’m determined to finish sorting books in the Loom Room so I can actually, you know, use the looms. Plus more yarn to make.
We’ve been having snow flurries here, and yesterday there was nearly an inch on the ground when I got out of bed. It’s all gone now, but it does not feel like April!
Sleep deprivation made me read snow flurries as slow furries I was just wondering what they were doing on the ground ๐
We moved here over ten years ago, and I still haven’t found the first box I packed. I need my vases! I have gotten together enough for the kitchen windowsill. I don’t think Teller would be comfy in that box, though I did wrap them in paper.
I got my first shot (Astra Zeneca) on Wednesday. I felt as if I had hangover the next day.
I interpret it as a sign from the skies, maybe I should start drinking to be able to cope with such crappy weeks one after another ๐
Aww Ems. That is so hard. I am not much of a drinker, as unfortunately (or fortunately?) I feel ill long before I feel “good”. But chocolate sometimes helps. I certainly don’t mean to sound frivolous – but it is amazing how a few well chosen small things can lift one’s spirit.
In the meantime – hugs.
Thank you, Dulcie. I’m not much of a drinker either. I admit I have eaten some chocolate lately, even if I don’t really like it. When I am completely exhausted, chocolate can keep me going.
Marci woke me up at 2,00 a.m. and threw a dead rodent at me – what a lovely start of the day ๐
Not everyone expresses their love the same way! ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Marci! Try kisses instead of dead things!
Ems, hope you’re feeling better, physically and mentally, very soon.
Thank you, Debg!
I highly suggest sleeping instead of booze, that could backfire on you if you’re not still not feeling well after the shot.
Agree with the chocolate/cheesecake/cheesesteak/whatever kind of comfort food. And a long walk in the sunshine followed by your favorite feel good movie
My 13 year old cat Bean is at the moment playing with the plastic ring from the milk carton that she stole from the kitchen counter and meowing her head off. She rarely plays with toys but this she goes crazy for. LOL!
My husband had the Pfizer vaccine on Monday and I had the Moderna vaccine on Tuesday and apart for a bit of sore arm the next day we had no side effect.
It’s been raining non stop here for the last two days, today is grey but no rain yet and that pretty much what they expect for the next week plus the temperature is supposed to go down to the freezing point by Thursday so we may get a few flurries.
This time, I misread “flurries” as “furries.”
Glad you both are doing well after your jabs.
Iโm sorry. I have to post this.

You got to be careful with those wild French parties they can attack without provocation and jump right into your mouth. LOL!

To be fair, it is a really big pastry from the pic.
No matter how much I look at it I cannot identify that as pastry. ๐ค
The article says it was football size.
Don’t be sorry. That was a lovely belly laugh.
Too bad there was just speculation in the article what the croissant was doing on that tree, maybe it was trying to build a nest to start a family!
Baby croissants, waiting to be born?
The croissant made it to Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me! ๐ฅ
Looks like a sloth to me…see that long tail hanging down?…but in Poland? ๐
Non-essential shops reopened in England on Monday so I took the opportunity to have my left ear repierced – the old (c1973) piercing had migrated so far the earring was hanging lopsidedly. I couldn’t believe how easy it was compared to the first one – virtually no pain or blood and no swelling!
Maybe you need something new in the way of earrings. something silly/joyful or a semiprecious stone to celebrate as we’re reopening our lives after covid
Can’t get enough “jabs” is that what you’re saying Alice? ๐
Maybe you’re just better at getting things stuck through your ear now! Congrats. And do treat yourself to some lovely jewelry.

๐คฃ๐คฃ Duckie!
๐๐๐๐๐
Five laughing emojis from the master of Uncannily Appropriate Images – high praise indeed, Duckie! And the Monster Croissant in the tree really looks like a monstrous cocoon. ANYTHING could emerge from it…
At the stroke of 5 this afternoon, it will be exactly two weeks since I received my second Pfizer shot (not that I’m at all crazed on the subject!). I will be officially immune!!!!
