Ever since ancient humans first discovered the cat, it transformed their societies by enabling them to move goods and people for longer distances. But for centuries it was limited to light-duty applications such as the catamaran and the covered waggin’. It would not be until the early 1800’s and the discovery of the steam-powered cat that its full potential could be realized, in the form of the transcatinental railroad.
