It’s another Caturday, and joining us again are Penny and Teller in a rare moment cuddling together, says sender-inner Muppet2171:
Actually got them in a photo together! Haven’t been able to do that for a while. He’s looking at me waving my fingers just over the camera. She isn’t.
Happy Caturday! My order came in at the bookstore the other day so I picked up Andrew Cotter’s book while I was there (had a gift card which covered all but about $3.) Haven’t started it yet but it’s got pictures. ๐
Cloudy outside and they’re predicting rain for most of the day (and temps in the 60s). It’s 8:09am and I’ve been up since 4:30. Read for a bit then listened to a few podcasts and I’m going to try to be at least a little productive after I take a shower.
Thought I’d share this deaf doggie who is very proud of her bork. (As she should be.)
(The video title says “he” but the video itself makes it clear the dog is female.)
Aw – sweet puppers mimicking behavior! I’m fascinated by this, especially her ears which are also moving – even though she’s deaf.
And like you Allein, I’m happy about the cool temps today. Just fine with me. ๐
I am fairly sure that there is usually some sound that gets through. A deaf relative once told me that they had a headache from all the noise at a wedding she attended and I asked how. She explained as best she could how it “sounded” (aside from vibration). She could discern the noise level as being high.
I certainly don’t know if that pertains to ALL deafness in all situations.
Silent barks are the best kind! Plus sweetie looks so cute and proud.
Penny & Teller are just gorgeous!! I always love when they make an appearance. Thanks Allein for the video, such a sweet girl and that little wooof. She’s definitely trying.
Last night’s neighborhood get-together was a success, had about 10 people come over and we visited from 5-7. Met our newest neighbor who lives two doors down from me. Nice family, couple with two kids, and they moved into a house that used to be a student rental so we’re all totally thrilled that it’s no longer a mini-dorm. The little three yr old was so adorable. Had a little boo-boo that he had to keep showing everyone.
Today is going to be busy. First meeting a friend that we haven’t seen in like a year for breakfast (he was on an extended travel assignment for work) then a photo shoot for the car club than our monthly meet-up. I think we have something going on tomorrow but I’m not sure, guess I’ll find out when I get up.
May everyone have a glorious summer weekend, and to my US friends, Happy 4th!
Not much going on here this weekend, it’s cool and grey outside and so is my mood.
I got woken up at 5 o’clock this morning by the beeping of the alarm monitor because there was a power failure. It’s the second power failure in 24 hours, the first happened when we were at the grocery store yesterday.
The cashier had just begun scanning our items when all the lights when out and everything stopped. I got worried because since the pandemic we carry very little cash because everywhere prefers you pay with a card either credit or debit so I thought we would have to leave everything there but luckily after a few minutes a generator came on and we had just enough electricity for a few lights and to run the terminals so we could pay with a card. There was no electricity at the house either it came back about an hour after we got home.
Well I think I’m going to go back to bed for a while and see if I can sleep a little more, have a good weekend everyone!
I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve used cash in a store in the last year, and three of them were in the past few weeks (and only because it was just a few dollars). I just looked at my checkbook and the last time I got cash from the ATM was March 9, 2020.
Oh wow. March 9. 2020 ๐คฏ
To be fair, I did have some gift money stashed at home, so I used that to pay my mom for groceries and stuff she bought me. But whenever I went shopping I used a credit card (which I normally do, anyway), and the place I used cash most often was probably the cafeteria at work, which has been closed since about March 25, 2020.
Good Morning!
Penny and Teller, you two are so gorgeous! Always a welcome sight in my Saturday inbox. โค๏ธ
My to-do list is overwhelming so I actually have no idea what I’m going to do today. I should probably get up and make some breakfast to start with. ๐
Hope everyone has a lovely holiday weekend!
Itโs the weekend!
Penny and Teller, just looking at your floof makes me feel hot.
Temps here are in the upper twenties, instead of the upper forties like last week. But Iโm still too warm. Favourite time of year starts in eight weeks.
Feeling rather uncomfortable breathing-wise with all the fires hereabouts. Have been referred to a cardiologist, as my respir-… my pulmon… my lung doctor is concerned that I might be developing sarcoidosis on my heart. At this point, I donโt care. I just want to breathe.
I was scrolling through budgie memes online last night, and so many of them were Duckie. I realized she is a normal budgie, after all. But she denied it.
Ugly bill paying week coming up. But at least we have the money to pay.
Have a great weekend, everyone. And a Happy 4th to those next door.
She denied it? Cheeky little birby!
Hopefully you can get some breathing relief Duckie. It can’t be easy.
Happy Caturday to everyone, especially our spokesmodels Penny and Teller. They’re so lovely.
Sounds like life is starting to get back to normal for everyone, despite some extreme temps and wildfires. Stay safe, everyone.
We’re back to normal July temps in Colorado. It was hot here the week before I went to Michigan, and on the cool side when I got back, while most of you were dealing with heat. (I didn’t want to mention our good weather.) I may actually try to work on the DIY project that has stalled since last September.
I’m also back to 4 days per week in the office and 1 day WAH. It’s been nice to reconnect with office coworkers, after so long. But we’re crammed into a rather small area, where social distancing just isn’t possible. I may keep wearing my mask, despite the awkwardness of steamed-up glasses.
The cats were already velcro kitties after I got back from my trip. They’re even more clingy now that I’ve been gone at work this week. Even Scorpius wants more affection–he was in tummy rub position when I went down to the basement this morning. Yes, he got what he wanted and purred loudly in response.
Looking forward to a long, hopefully productive weekend. We’ll see how much of my list actually gets accomplished, but I have hope!
Good Day All! Mike your hovertext comment has had me giggling all morning. Thank you!
Could those of you suffering in sweltering temperatures waft a bit of excess heat my way, because in Britain the weather has been cool and overcast with just a few warm days here and there (although there was a spectacular thunderstorm last night to break the monotony).
I’m counting down the hours until Wednesday night and my first visit to the theatre in almost eighteen months. I’ve also booked for four productions in October, including Matthew Bourne’s new dance work and a one-man show about Mr Wickham’s post-P&P adventures starring the actor who played him in the wonderful TV adaptation.
