Cats don’t **get stuck.** Or if they do, that’s what the hoomins are for!
The first time my girlfriend brought over her 4 yo white Turkish Van for me to babysit, the cat immediately slid under your standard 20 yo nyc apartment stove/oven. The gap is like under 3 inches.
The trauma that is washing her thoroughly afterwards will bond us for the rest of our lives 😅

Back in 1986, my first and beloved orange tabby died. I came back from college for Christmas holidays and insisted that we had to get another cat right away. We did–a story that includes a box of exploding kittens–and Medulla Oblongata came home with us. Within hours, Med discovered a similar gap in our kitchen. Mom and I were standing there talking and noticed that he’d suddenly vanished. Then he suddenly reappeared. It was truly magical. Three-inch gap can accommodate 8-week-old kitten.
Medulla didn’t need a visit from the Great Cat Spirit to do naughty stuff. He was born mischievous and never grew out of it, to my knowledge.
Medulla Oblongata is an awesome cat name. And I think I need to hear this box of exploding kittens story.
Box of exploding kittens: we went to a house that had advertised free kittens. The people rounded up all the babies and put them in a box, then closed the lid. (There was plenty of room and air; they just wanted to contain the bebehs.)
Mom and I arrive to look at the kittens, and people opened the box. It was like opening a can of snakes. Within 1 second, all the kittens had scampered away. I think Medulla was one of the slow ones, so he got adopted.

I babysat a chinchilla one year. The creature was supposed to be completely tame and house trained. It was, to a certain point. But when I let it loose in the kitchen for a run, it somehow managed to squeeze under the dishwasher!
I had to play Hansel and Gretel with some raisins to lure it out. And after that, the only place it ran free was in the bathroom. No hidey holes anywhere, and its dust bath was in the tub.
This ghost cat is worse!
How are you doing Duckie? Has the rain finally stopped up there? I’ve seen pictures of the damage to BC and it’s unbelievable.
Hubby and I, and our friends and family, were mercifully spared most of the rain damage, and any wind damage too. Now I’m concerned about the huge fire that was burning on Sumas Prairie, as it’s involving RV campers, and the chemical content in those is scary.
We had two beautiful days of chilly sunshine, during which much rescue work was done. The prairie was ordered evacuated, because of backed up rivers and an over worked water pump system.
On a somewhat lighter note, it was just announced that Canadians no longer need a negative COVID test to get back into Canada if they’re in the states for under 72 hours. It should be official by the end of the week, in which case, everyone south of the line should prepare to be inundated by us. As soon as that was announced, you could hear computers being booted up as everyone hit amazon.com. Better stock up on your gas and dairy products, ‘cause we’re coming to America.
Even more fun was one of my first foster assignments – momma cat and 3 kittens. Those kittens were into everything!!! I thought my house had been kitten-proofed but they proved me wrong. I ended up stuffing towels/blankets under most furniture and blocking access to the fridge. Even momma got in the act and almost got stuck behind the entertainment center. I had to wrap my husband’s recliner from the bottom up because kittens would go in there and I’d have to get them out. Thank goodness, the back had a flap so I’d just open it up and pull kittens out on a regular basis. Kinda reminded me of a clown car where ya never know how many are in there and how many are coming out. I was soo happy when that assignment was over.
Kittens are determined, inventive, and mischievous. Sounds like this batch learned it from their mom!
