Haven’t seen the Guiding Leash in a while!

Ramadan kitty just wants to join in. Probably wouldn’t agree to the fasting bit, though. I don’t know how they all kept a straight face.

And now for the anxiety dump for the day. My mom is in the hospital. She might have had a TIA (mini stroke) Tuesday night. My dad was checking something on his phone when he got a text from her saying she had a problem. She was sitting across the room but couldn’t talk and couldn’t move her right arm. He said her face looked normal, though, and by the time the ambulance came she was able to talk and move her hand a little. When the EMT checked her blood pressure it was sky high (something like 200/110!). I didn’t find out until last night because they didn’t want to say anything until they knew more and then my dad didn’t want to tell me while I was at work (he actually stopped by my house on his way home from the hospital in the afternoon but I was in the office yesterday) so he texted asking me to stop at their house after work because “I have something for you”…she seems to be doing okay. Was almost back to normal even before they left in the ambulance. She got a CT Tuesday night which was okay, and another more extensive one yesterday morning, and an MRI last night around 6:30 but we don’t have results of that yet. She was texting us last night. Haven’t heard anything yet this morning.

Sending healing thoughts to your mom and calming thoughts to you and I know it’s hard because you’re worried about your mom but try to look at it this way, that mini stroke was a good thing because the problem was found early and now the doctors can treat it and it won’t ever get really serious. Hang in there everything will turn out OK.

Sending healing purrs from all the kitties. Georgiana is right–early detection means treatment before the situation gets worse. We’re holding you and your family in our hearts.

      Allein. Prayers and hugs. 💕

She just texted and said “it was probably a mini-stroke but no permanent damage” so I guess the MRI she got last night was okay, too, and she’s getting one more test (echocardiogram) and then she’ll be going home with new BP and cholesterol meds (she has resisted the latter for years).

        Very good news

    • AJ April 6, 2023 / 12:07 pm

Sorry to hear about your mom but thankfully, she’s coming home today. Just remember to breathe and know that since it was caught early so her doctors can run more tests plus keep an closer eye on her for any odd symptoms.

    • Emsthemonster April 6, 2023 / 12:46 pm

I’m glad there is no permanent damage. Take care of yourself as well, please.

I’m glad it’s no worse. And I’m not at all dismissing the concern you have felt and are no doubt still feeling. What a shock! Fingers crossed for you all.

Allein, sending good thoughts your way! 💜

      Oh Allein,

so sorry that you’re mom’s having a tough time. Had a couple of TIA’s and thankfully they don’t have to be damaging.

      Hope that she’s feeling better.

I got home just before 7:30 and hadn’t heard from my parents in a few hours so I texted to see if they were still at the hospital, but no, they were out having dinner. (Left hospital around 5, had to get prescriptions, one of which wasn’t received, so they had to call the hospital and then go back to the pharmacy, and for some strange reason they didn’t feel like cooking after all that.)

Oh, Allein, I’m so sorry, that’s upsetting. My mother had quite a few TIA’s over the years she lived with us and it was always scary. The only good thing is that now steps can be taken and she can be monitored. I’m glad your mom recovered from the episode so quickly. Take care and big virtual hug.

Oh lots of hugs Allein! ❤️{{{hugh}}}❤️

I’m so sorry Allein. How scary and upsetting. It sounds like it wasn’t too bad? Please keep us posted on developments.

I’m glad you could enjoy the cat’s dominion and control over the sheik and congregation

I love the soulful kitty! It knows that beards are fun to rub against, and it knows to jump down before everyone kneels.

Ernie the cat has a great life ahead. Congrats on turning in your feral card, sweetie!

Finally, a soap opera I can get into. Sandals and Socks Forever!

    • Dubravkamcvmd April 6, 2023 / 2:30 pm

Socks and Sandals should be a TV series

  6. Duckie 🐥 April 6, 2023 / 11:51 am

Allein, glad your mom’s situation is doing better.
“Socks and Sandals”. So perfectly close to “Sex and Scandals”.
Feeling a bit better today. I just have too many meds in my system, and it feels like I’m made of a chemical sludge. It’s dragging me down. Waiting for a doctor’s appointment.

    • debg April 6, 2023 / 12:10 pm

Hugs, Duckie. We’re also sending healing purrs to you.

  7. AJ April 6, 2023 / 12:11 pm

I’m glad they brought back The Guiding Leash. I’m on the edge of my seat, wanting to know if baby daddy will be back. Will Sandals remain off the streets or go back to her roaming ways? Will Socks stick around once he realizes none of the babies are his?? Stay Tuned!

Always impressed by imams who are so gentle with the kitties. And I agree most cats wouldn’t be able to handle Ramadan. No eating all day!!???? I’m outta here.

    • shut that bloody bozouki off! April 6, 2023 / 11:19 pm

It is written that the prophet Muhammed cut off the sleeve of his robe rather than disturb his cat sleeping on it.

      • Kar April 7, 2023 / 12:25 am

Remember the Dean of Cantebury overindulging his cats during the pandemic as they stole his pancakes, milk, etc. Also crept under his robes during a virtual sermon for a nap.

Didn’t one of the popes carry one of his cats in his sleeves?

  8. debg April 6, 2023 / 12:16 pm

Socks and Sandals would make an excellent show. I’d watch every day. Hope we get to see photos of the kittens.

  9. Kar April 6, 2023 / 7:35 pm

Kind of assumed Ramadan kitty was in Istanbul, cats and mosques seem to go hand in paw there.

Obviously man loves kitty and it goes the other way too.
