I saw the library cat thing this morning, but I don’t think the story I saw included this detail:
“We take a lot of honorary cats,” Homer said. “Any ungovernable animal.” 😄
I loved that comment. But personally I wish libraries were all still quiet spaces. It drives me crazy to hear the noise that goes on in libraries today.
Me too, regarding the noise.
Ditto. I grew up during the “shushing” years. It was hard to suppress the grade-school giggles- especially after being “shushed.” I would love to do some shushing today…
Its not the noise that bothers me, its the homeless population that live there.
Understand that they have a right to be there and they can’t be kicked out but its unfortunate for everyone involved.
I had a dear friend and neighbor who worked in the local library in a Kansas town. Parents would just dump their kids off, expecting the staff to provide free babysitting.

Sometimes I am just AMAZED at the audacity of some people!
Also: The local NPR affiliate, WBUR, described it as a “never be-fur tried initiative,” and urged patrons to hurry and “act meow.” So far the response, WBUR said, has Jason Homer, executive director of the library, “feline good.”
