There’s a new arrival at Elephant Nature Park, and the herd eagerly trumpets a welcome.
For Grandma Dok Koon, this journey begins a new chapter in a life full of hardships.
Now she has new friends, loving caregivers, and plenty of time for herself.
I have never heard elephants make that barking sound for so long. What does it mean?
So glad this grandma has a loving place to go to. I can’t imagine how hard her life must have been.
I’m so glad she has peace and comfort and friends
I’ve seen other videos like this.
what is it about sand that reassures the elephants? don’t think of them like cats rolling on concrete but apparently its something about the sand that they enjoy.
and how cute is it that they’re getting to know each other through the fence and welcoming her?
The video description says “When she arrived, there was a soft sand bed awaiting her, prompting Dok Koon to eagerly lie down for much needed rest, ignoring the nearby activity of Chana and her family welcoming a new arrival.”
Rolling in mud and dirt also helps protect their skin from bugs and the sun.
So happy for her. Enjoy your retirement beautiful girl. All the other elephants remind me of southern ladies welcoming a new home owner to the neighborhood. All they need are the plates of cookies and cakes and the pitchers of iced tea, lol. Here’s an update of Dok Koon

I’m so glad that Dok Koon will have a safe place to spend her remaining years with friends human and elephant.
Mike, it won’t let me upvote this eleventy-billion times.
They really need to fix that issue.
Scootin’ grown-up trunksters! Wow they are so excited to meet their new friend! Dok Koon is beautiful, her vitiligo is stunning. I’m happy for her to have found a forever home that is so welcoming to her.
And pssst – Duckie – you can upvote on different devices and different browsers. 😉 jes’ sayin’
agreeing to all the above, now that’s my level of a retirement home.
