“I think I found it,” said the cat. “This is why our human has been so morose and listless lately.” Hesitantly, the dog climbed up to the table, fearful of what he might find. Would it be a tall stack of bills? A foreclosure notice? Divorce papers? “It’s worse than we feared,” said the cat. “He’s been reading the newspaper again.“

I need lots of emergency cuddling.
Ditto
Be glad you can’t read.
This speaks to me on a very deep level. I know reading the paper is bad for my emotional health, but I also feel a need to do what I can to preserve constitutional democracy. And that takes knowing what’s going on. I’m so glad Cutetropolis is here to help cleanse my spirits.
I used to watch Nightline nightly, stopped again. I miss Ted Koppel and his not-quite Sam Donaldson zany personality.
But I also used to watch Bob Costas, still one of the few late night shows that I could tolerate.
Now get off my lawn!!!
I have the NewYork Times delivered. I read it with my morning coffee. Takes a long time to read, what with putting it down frequently to try to calm down. I wish I still had my cats to cuddle.
Same. But, I haven’t found the right balance between my need for sanity and knowing what’s going on.
Maybe we should all cuddle with the Golden, the Husky, and the Fluffy Cat in the next post.
I think everyone needs a little emergency cuddling these days.
I am deliberately not looking at my 401k for awhile.
Remember the last recession? Llost 40% of what I had then, I can’t afford that again at this stage.
My Dad lost more than half. It was bad…
Ouch. My sympathies.
Tru dat!👍🏼
Sign me up! I’ve just been shaking my head at stuff that’s going on. And then the stock market is giving me whiplash. Down 3,000, Up 2,000, Down 1150, Up 710. AGGGHHHH! Every time I think it can’t get worse, it’s like a challenge and someone in charge goes “Hold my beer”. I’m trying to remember my relaxation breathing techniques.
Have you tried looking at a graph of your investments that starts with when you first invested? You will see ups and downs, but the chances are pretty good that overall the trend will be upward. If you just look at last week, or YTD, it will look grim indeed. That’s why I prefer the long view.
I hope this helps. I realize you may have personal concerns different from mine.
I concentrate on the long term too. It’s just watching the market this week that’s like Holy Moly! I’m letting my money sit there and do whatever, if anything I may tell my financial manager that if I have any extra cash to start buying.
Unfortunately my long term feels shorter and shorter.
Do you want fries with that?
Hugs, Kar. It’s a scary time. Be kind to yourself.
