In the comments for the post with the quokka, there was a suggestion that such a thing as a “Quokkabat” (a combination of quokka and wombat) would be a good idea, and then I said that it sounded like a quokka with bat wings, and then reader Haha decided to create some proof-of-concept artwork, and here you go:
The comment subscription system I installed a couple of weeks ago proved to be unreliable, so I’m restoring the older method. This means that you can only subscribe to message threads you participate in. However, if you want to subscribe without leaving a comment, try this one weird trick:

About a week ago, I set up a new system for subscribing to comments by email. I’d like to hear about your experiences with it so far. Is it reliable; that is, do you get emails every time there’s a comment in a thread you’ve subscribed to? Is it easy to understand, or too complicated? Please let me know.
