Ain’t Your Day to Die, Kitten

Get ready to bite your nails as these sailors from the Italian Coast Guard revive a nearly-drowned kitten in a port near Milan. After children alerted them, the sailors dove into the water, retrieved the motionless kitten and gave it the breath of life.

I speak not a word of Italian, but when the one cried out, “Respira! Respira!” I nearly cried for happiness. Seriously, I hope these men get medals for their heroic work saving this sweet kitteh!

      I loved that bit, too!

I think I love the Italian Coast Guard. Remember, it was one of their guys who cussed out the captain of that capsized passenger ship. “Get back on the boat, dammit!”

Wow. How does one even learn how to perform CPR on a tiny kitten? These guys are heroes.

CPR on a baby was scary enough.

All those warnings about crushing the rib cage and dislodging the heart, not to mention blowing out the lungs if you puff too hard.

I saw this but couldn’t figure out how to submit it. Loved when the kitten took some breaths and now it lives in the maritime district office. I think these men need to be nominated for Heros of Cutetropolis (along with that copper from down under).

They have definitely earned keys to the city of Cutetropolis!

How completely wonderful that these men can care so much about this little animal. I’m in a puddle.

Even tho I knew how it would end (read comments first) I still held my breath until kitty gasped. Good men!

My eyes are all misty and I knew the kitten was going to make it. Hurray for brave and caring sailors. They do Italy proud!

    Lovely!

But this is in Sicily, not the north. These are the same guys who go out every day and rescue dozens, sometimes hundreds, of refugees from Syria and North Africa. I’m afraid they must have quite a bit of experience with CPR now. Glad they had a happy moment.

They are truly heroes, the best kind, for they respect and protect life.

Yes, Marsala is in Sicily. Nifty town, stayed there in February 18 months ago.
Milan is inland, with views of the Alps. These guys indeed deserve medals
for all that they do not only for hapless kitties but all the hapless humans
      showing up.
