The weather in York has been wet and miserable for days. I think torrential rain may have been responsible for dislodging some slates on my roof – earlier today I heard an ominous grinding sound overhead, closely followed by a crash as two tiles fell into the back yard. Four more tiles are peeking over the gutter and I’m just hoping the damage isn’t more widespread. So tomorrow morning I’ll have the pleasure of paying a plumber for a new cistern and a roofer for replacing the slates…
