Stylish shelter pets, all dogs go to church, town cat turns 10, and the world’s ugliest dog.

    Heeeere, birdie birdie birdie!!!

    • Alice Shortcake June 24, 2019 / 12:36 pm

For a couple of seconds I thought the bird was a wind-up toy!

In other news, when I visited my dad in hospital today I was told that he’d managed to eat some solid food. He was also completely lucid and talking about coming home, which has to be a good sign.

      • dubravkamcvmd June 24, 2019 / 12:47 pm

That’s terrific! It really had sounded bad.

      • allein 🐾 June 24, 2019 / 1:35 pm

        Yay! Glad to hear it!

      • debg June 24, 2019 / 3:23 pm

Great news, Alice! Please tell him to keep up the good work.

I thought the yellow bird was a ball.

Alice, that’s great about your dad!

      • phredsmom June 25, 2019 / 12:27 pm

Oh, Alice, what great news about your dad! What ideas do you have
to keep him eating solids? Does he have friends who stop in to visit?
My mom was alone a lot and this depressed her. If people came, she
perked up considerably. It’s so hard to know what to do for/with/to them.
I’m happy for both of you.

        • Alice Shortcake June 25, 2019 / 5:23 pm

Phredsmom, I’m his only visitor as we have no close relatives and lead a rather isolated life. He’s seeing a dietician who’s trying to interest him in small but frequent high-protein meals. When I saw him this afternoon he was much better – blood pressure and oxygen levels back to normal, lucid, and able to move his feet and wiggle his toes, which he couldn’t do yesterday. He also remembered details of a holiday we took eight years ago without being prompted! The hospital is waiting for a bed to become available at a nearby physio/rehab unit.

Darius Brown is a wonderful child. Handsome too!

      • dubravkamcvmd June 24, 2019 / 10:25 am

And it’s on the one cat!

    • Dulcie June 24, 2019 / 11:22 am

We so need more people like Darius on this earth. Bowties for everyone!!
Did we see neck-erchiefs recently on Cute where the cat had one with dog bones and the dog’s had kitty pawprints on it? 😁

    • debg June 24, 2019 / 8:57 pm

He’s an inspiration. What a brilliant young man.

I saw the bowtie kid somewhere recently… (edit: Ah…He’s from northern NJ…must have been one of the feel-good stories on the ‘local’ (NYC for me) newscast.)

I’d almost consider going to church if there were dogs… (probably not really).

  4. Lucy's Mom June 24, 2019 / 9:04 am

Bowtie kid will always be successful in all he does – he has just the right attitude and an enormous heart. His family must be incredibly proud of him.

Ugly dog??? Does not compute. I had a senior chihuahua who ultimately had all her teeth removed so her tongue perpetually hung out – lots of people thought that made her less than pretty but to me, it only made her more adorable. πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Yes Lucy’s Mom I agree. I understand the contest and try to keep it in perspective but part of me just says “please please don’t use that label”. I can’t help but feel they are ridiculing the unfortunate.

And Duckie…hope you are having a better day today. (Did you notice that people interchange our names sometimes? Dulcie and Duckie!)

Feeling a little better today. This site really does help.

        • Dulcie June 24, 2019 / 2:42 pm

          Yay!

        • debg June 24, 2019 / 8:57 pm

          So good to hear, Duckie.

        • phredsmom June 25, 2019 / 2:34 pm

Yes, this site does indeed help when one has a case of
the milwhiffies. Glad you’re a bit better today. And tomorrow
will be that much better. Everyone at your place still in one
piece? Please tell us what we can do to help you, besides
the feelgood stuff, tell us the possible.

Birds walking or running, (they appear kinda ungainly) always crack me up. πŸ˜€

    • Dulcie June 24, 2019 / 11:18 am

Sometimes they bounce though and it is sooo cute!

“Wilbur’s Facebook page was set up by his publicity agent Nicola Burton.”

    HIS PUBLICITY AGENT???

Well, I’d say he owes her a bonus this month. After all, he’s made it to the big time: Cutetropolis!

  7. Juno June 24, 2019 / 9:53 am

I like the way the dog on the left glances at the bird and moves way over.

    I suspect there’s a history there.

    • dubravkamcvmd June 24, 2019 / 10:27 am

Good observation. Pup is not messing with that bird – pecking may have been involved.

  8. allein 🐾 June 24, 2019 / 10:33 am

I like that birdie has a heart-shaped bowl.

    • allein 🐾 June 24, 2019 / 10:38 am

Also, I now have Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box” playing in my head.
