It’s a good thing that Hank the Tank now Henrietta is now in a sanctuary away from the temptation of breaking into human houses.

I tried to go to Maui Humane Society’s Amazon Wish List but it seems to be only for U.S. and the link to their website leads to a jpeg of a video of the fires, I’ll try again later when I have more time to search properly.

I love the dog VS frozen strawberry battle.

Ikea and her “Swedish Meatballs” 🥰 (Bjorn, Lars, Hanns, and Sven). Glad she didn’t have to assemble a bed for herself.

Those are adorable, roly poly meatballs.

Mike, thanks for the link about Maui–will check in this evening to see how I can help. If I were one of the affected folks, any help for my furbabies would ease my pain.

Love the strawberry pup so much! Gorgeous critter, with a toy that becomes a snack. Everybody wins!

Hank the Tank now lives near me! I’ll get to visit her the next time I go to the Wild Animal Sanctuary, which may be in a few weeks for my birthday. Gotta love watching serial criminals face “justice”!!!!

      It’s a toy! It’s a snack! It’s Attack berry!

The news out of Maui is just awful. I’ve read about people who, trapped by the flames, resorted to leaping into the ocean–caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. Glad folks are helping the pets.

“Hank” reinforces my suspicion that black bears are basically giant raccoons.

Wish I lived closer to Maui and was able to foster. It is just so scary and heart wrenching. ☹️💔
I donated thru the Amazon link. Very easy to do.

Yeah for Hank, er Henrietta, getting a safe place. I’m in love with Ikea and her lil swedish meatballs. Amazing how all the kittens were the same sex and color. Wonder how often that happens. My heart just breaks for Maui, I visited Lahaina and the rest of Maui back in 2016, such a beautiful place. We scattered my dad’s and mother-in-law’s ashes at a beach north of Lahaina so Maui will always be a special place for me.

Henrietta is a very impressive master burglar.

Thank you for the post about the Maui Humane Society. As a long time resident of Oahu, these fires struck close to home in many ways, although I can’t begin to imagine what it has been like for the residents of Lahaina and other areas where fires are still burning and homes and lives destroyed. Maui Humane Society was my first donation stop. (World Central Kitchen, which I love because they never pester me for more money when I contribute, is also on board there.) I already have 12 rescues and no room to foster, but all the charities are in desperate need of cash, so that’s my go-to plan .

On a couple of hopeful notes about the fires, a facility that houses 40 Hawaiian crows (‘alala) and 40 akiki honeycreepers, each group representing HALF of the ENTIRE world populations of these critically endangered birds, was spared major damage or loss of any life, avian or human, due to the diligence of facility staff and helpful neighbors.

The other hopeful thing is that Lahaina’s famous, fabulous, and HUGE 150 year old banyan tree was inspected by an expert arborist today, and he found the roots and trunk are still alive, so it should start to grow back in a few months. It is a wonderful tree, and the symbolism of it rising from the ashes is really powerful.

Thanks to all who have been helping MHS, and Hawaii as a whole.

I donated through my membership to Big Jet TV on YouTube. The wonderful, caring owner of the channel chose the Maui Humane Society as the recipient of donations during a special live video. The kicker? It’s a British channel! The love for animals anywhere in the world runs deep.
