… and, as we enter the third hour of this gripping match, it looks like the Russian grandmaster, Boris Squirrelski, has outmaneuvered his challenger, Bobby Kingfisher. There was a delay earlier in the game when Kingfisher flipped the board after accusing his opponent of nibbling on the pieces.
Checkmate, Arne. Via The Telegraph.
Next match, Moose and Squirrel.
LOL! That is the fanciest squirrel hairdo we have ever seen!
Yeah, in fairness to Kingfisher, he was probably distracted by those ears, making hard to be on top of his game! 😀
I think I’ve seen it before…
Londo?
He’s not a dude in a moustache and cape managing Cloud City.
Double nerd references!
Ooo you’re good. ?
We are unabashedly nerds
I wonder how many here are old enough to understand where the names Boris Squirrelski and Bobby Kingfisher. Very clever NTMTOM. 😀
Me!!
Me too
And that begs the question —how old is NTMTOM anyway?
Office poop?
He knows the seventies and eighties better than I. So I guess he’s born after 1955.
Omg!! OFFICE POOL!!! NOT POOP. POOL!!! Darn autocorrect.
1959, to be exact.
NTMTOM, your age is completely irrelevant! Your wit and humor are timeless!
Yay! I could tell.
1959 was a good year for future NTMTOMers.
On a totally unrelated tangent, do any of you remember the Sears catalogue?
Am I the only old fogey who thinks Amazon is today’s Sears catalogue?
Oh no Madame X I remember doing my Christmas list with the Sears catalog.
Sears? Classy.
We had the JC Penny’s for the start of school and the PX catalogue for Christmas
I love Boris’ matching fur hat gloves and boots. And his snazzy fur coat.
Seriously, I am really curious why someone ‘voted down’ to this. Was it a slip of the key punch or do you have a relative of Bobby Fischer voting?!
I don’t know, but one of the benefits of the voting buttons is that they allow people to express their opinion anonymously, which is a good way to get honest feedback.
Is this the first downvote in NTMTOM history??
No, I’ve had others. They don’t bother me, in fact, I try to learn from all feedback, negative as well as positive.
The downvoter is Vladimir Putin – he saw “Russian Grandmaster” and thought it was going to be a picture of him.
Smartypants, if the squirrel or the bird were riding shirtless on horseback while wrestling a tiger and doing judo with a Kalashnikov in its hand (beak?), THEN we’d know Putin was involved.
Squirrelski opened with the Peanut Gambit. “Nuts to you!” shouted Kingfisher.
*** golf clap ***
Oh good, my old icon of a mutated green virus. Not the blue one that confuses people.
Maybe they ” voted down” because of photoshopping? Anyway, you have a birdbrain playing against a sqwerly nut, could be an interesting game.
@NTMTOM, When I saw your welcome refugees from CO site, I saw that you had mentioned about using Amazon and to click on it. Does that mean if I order from them, thru this site, you get some money? If so, I’ll keep that in mind. I don’t know a lot about how these things work on the web.
Right, when you click the Amazon link in my sidebar, I get a small payment for every item you order. (To be specific, every item you place in your cart within 24 hours of clicking the link.)
This is an awesome way to support your worthy endeavors – I’m a chronic Amazon shopper so I’ve changed my quick-link to them to bring me to your page instead. You get shopper points and I get cute–that’s a win/win in my book!
I know that bird. His name is Jay.
Hah! 🙂 Welcome to the site, new commenter!
NTMTOM, so glad to find your site. I only discovered it reading the post-mortem comments on CO’s last post. If I had known about it before I would have been here a long time ago. Your slightly off-kilter sense of humor fits mine perfectly. Going to change my shopping to help you out with the Amazon thing. All the best.
Welcome, Ed. You haven’t missed much, since I’ve only had this site since last November. And thank you for using my Amazon link! 🙂
