Your Guide to Today’s Bowl Games

At 3 pm / 2 pm Central, Animal Planet stages its classic Super Bowl alternative, the Puppy Bowl. During practice games, there was an all-too-familiar issue with inflation.

Now let’s go behind the scenes into the Puppy Bowl locker room at Animal Planet.

And while Animal Planet offers a kitten halftime show, the Hallmark Channel puts the felines on the front lines with Kitten Bowl! (Thanks, April!)

Meanwhile, at Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA, preparations are underway for Otter Bowl II, a live event. If you’re in Long Beach, you otter go see it.

But the last word in bowl games has to be National Geographic’s Fish Bowl, zenfully pointed out by Maya.

They worked great! (Whenever I read those older posts, I always catch myself thinking “Wow, I wish I could write like that.”)

Seriously? After that Blackened Plague joke the other day? the Dead Ringers reference or the Flying Bun poem? The whambozo island adventure?

There’s also the classic NTMTOM style of the hazardous cat, Sad-eyed Sam, and probably my favorite on the new site, the watcher: http://notthatmiketheothermike.com/2016/01/13/the-watcher-in-the-night/

I loved The Watcher too! I even posted that one to my FB page for my cat-owned friends to see?

In the interest of equal time…..the Kitten Bowl is on Hallmark Channel now…noon to 3pm Eastern?

I was really disappointed with the Puppy Half-time show, it was so much better when Bissell ran it. They had basically a cat fight godzilla style in downtown SF.

I don’t know how that ref doesn’t just pick up that stalking kitten and kiss him.

BTW, did anyone see their Yule log show at Christmas? It had a dog and cat snuggling and chasing each other.

Hey, they’re at the game today! Happy the Dog and Happy the Cat ( really creative there Hallmark Channel, explains some of your programming ) are both there as ambassadors/spokescreatures.

And if you get a little overexcited at the other bowls you can always switch over to the relaxing “Fish Bowl” on the Nat Geo Wild channel! (3pm PST)

I love the Fish Bowl! The first year it was on, there was a ten-minute stretch of a precious lab puppy sleeping beside the fish bowl. Just a fish swimming and a sleeping puppy. I didn’t know whether to laugh myself sick or just zone out with the puppy! But it’s a yearly tradition for me now. And this year they’ll have some fancy fish taking turns in the fish bowl! Oh boy!

Cracks me up that the counter programming now has counter-counter programming.
