Aug(de)mented Reality

We start with shout-outs to Patricia and Marcia for their contributions. Thanks! Update: Thanks to William for subscribing!

Andrew Y. sent in something I’d seen before, and it’s too good not to be shared widely: Aug(de)mented Reality, a series of animations by Hombre McSteez that superimpose cartoon characters onto real-world objects and places. Here’s the first in the series:

    Wow! What a day you/we have had! First, the very, very best of NTMTOM, and now, this guy! Hope the connection works out for you both. I’m seeing some subscribers to his sight in the near future. It’s a tie for the Genius of the Interwebs for you two.

      Agreed!

      NTMTOM he thinks like you but in pictures rather than words. Sure you weren’t separated at birth? Distant cousin?

      I’m flattered by the comparison, but for the sake of fairness I should say that this animator has mastered a much more demanding craft than I have (likewise with today’s violinist).

        He draws. You write. Both see a different reality than most of us.

    Love the imagination!
    One set in particular reminds me;
    My hubby and I won a Halloween costume contest one year. I dressed as a cat. (My cat at the time did NOT like the ears. Puffed up and hissed whenever I put them on. Everything else was fine. Just the ears.) We used expanding insulation foam to make a vest for him. (For those who don’t know, it is a gross blobby texture and color) While it was still wet, we added hair and cat food. Whenever anyone would ask him what he was, I made the kitty hacking sounds and movements at him. We were a hit.

      I’m ded from the fun of picturing your entire story. The hissing at the ears only… OMG

    Many laughs! Fav was the hairball hacking up the cat?

    Fabulous creativity! A perfect visual compliment to NTMTOM’s verbal creativity! Yes, to be able to hack up yet another black cat…

    I skipped this post yesterday because I wasn’t sure it was my kinda thing. But OMG it’s totally my kind of thing. Lesson of the day: books, covers, judge not.

    Now I want a Google Glass, and I want this guy to make an app so that I can see his little characters doing cute, funny stuff everywhere I go.
